I've been to RNO
only twice, and both trips were a long time ago ('94 and '95). So I don't know what it's like now. But when I was there, I really enjoyed myself. My impression of Reno was that of a small friendly western town where you could also get all of the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas, without the heat. Both times I was there, the WX
was mild and quite pleasant.
Both times, I stayed at the Best Western Airport Plaza Inn, which is (or at least was) a short 5 or 6 minute walk from the terminal. It was a very clean and comfortable place. And considering that and it's proximity to the airport, the $125 a night was very reasonable. And there was a coffee shop just another 5 minute walk away, down the street and under the freeway. I think it was called Cattin's, or something like that. Served the best cup of hot chocolate and bacon and eggs I'd ever tasted.
