A Question About Coffee

Thu Aug 21, 2003 5:48 pm

Hi there......I'd really like to buy some 'illy' espresso cups to go with my new machine (you know, the white ones with the cool red logo) but I can't seem to find them for sale anywhere in Europe.

The only place is an online store in New York State (called 'Wholelattelove' would you believe....!) but I'm concerned about breakable china getting sent across the pond!

Any Euro-users know where to get them, either online or in the UK?

This could be a hit or miss BUT:

I believe my local cafe in Cambridge may be selling the cups you are on about. At least, they had a few display boxes on a glass shelf.

The name is Savino's (run and owned by Italians  Big grin ) and it is located in Cambridge, so the area code will be 01223.

Sorry, don't have their number (though they do have one). Try yell.com or whoever else.

I'm sure they will be happy to help. If they are not selling any now, ask them where you might be able to get them.

good luck

p.s. if you are ever in that part of England, make a point of visiting them!

Hm, no problem with that here. Guess, the makers of illy coffee think Britons always have tea rather than espresso.

I think the staff at illy will be happy to send you a list of distributors: info@illy.com

Oh, there's no problem with getting illy at a restaurant or cafe....in fact I know of several in Newcastle that serve it. It's also in all the supermarkets. It's just the damn china cups I want so when I make it at home I can serve it properly!!!

DoorstoManual (you're not Tailscraper are you?  Big grin ) cheers for the info.

Hope you do manage to get hold of some.

And yes, BTW, I am Tailscraper/Capt.Picard. I get bored with one username and start another. Unfortunately I can't change usernames anymore without getting charged membership, so will have to stick with this. The fact that I am still scribbling away here is either funny or depressing depending on one's viewpoint. Too much time, too little money - but that's gonna change soon hopefully.

Try this:

http://www.illy.com/Illy_It/E-shop/illy+collection/default.htm?cs_catalog=IllyIT&cs_category=IllyCollection and press the "e-shop" link.

(if it doesn't work, start from here: http://www.illy.com/Illy_It/default.htm)

If you have any problem with the language, feel free to ask me.

Ciao.
