Gcse Results

Thu Aug 21, 2003 8:26 pm

Hi all,

I collected my GCSE results today and they are as follows:

GERMAN - B
ENGLISH - BB
ENGLSIH LIT - B
D & T FOOD - C
GEOG - C
R.E. - C
SCI - CC
MATHS - D
I.T. - D

Even though I am dissapointed with my maths grade, I am still going to have it remarked. I am very pleased with my other results especially german as I was pedicted a grade D and I got a B.

There must be something wrong with the Maths exam system as yet again the worst subjects are maths, french and german.

Regards

The exams today are far too easy  Big grin You're making me feel old as it's almost 20 years since I did my 'O' Levels!

I know you are jesting about the exams being to easy, however I would like to say that I would not want to do them again. I only did 5 subjects at O grade (Scotland) 25 years ago not the 8, 9 or 10 subjects the students do today.

I also did a GCSE in Modern History 10 years ago for fun and the work that has to be put in is substantial.

So well done to both Monarch and Shamrock_747 and everyone else who has received their results today and to those who think the exams are to easy - wind your neck in!! - dont spoil these guys elation.

Well done chaps! Brings back memories (10 years ago)! To be honest I actually found A Levels easier than GCSE's despite the hype, because with A levels I studied the 4 subjects I was best at (NO MORE PHYSICS!!!)

COngrats, and enjoy the rest of the holiday. I remember when I got my results afterwards we went to Glastonbury Festival and ceremonially burned all of our text books Big grin
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Well done to Monarch and Shamrock747, you guys did much better than me when i did it. Need not worry about getting a D in maths, there's always the re-take option.

Congrats guys well done.

You have two years of slacking at college and three years of drunken slacking at Uni to come - you have my jellousy.

Well done Monarch and Shamrock747.

I got my GCSE results 3 years ago. I think I got mostly C's with a couple of B's. My sister got hers today and did better than I did, I'm quite jealous Big grin

I thought that A levels were impossible!

lol..

I feel like bringing up old topics. When I got my results, I had just the night before had an operation to remove a ruptured appendix, so obviously I wasn't feeling in the best mood  Smile/happy/getting dizzy.

I got..

English: A
English Lit: A
Maths: A
Geography: A
Science: BB
History: B
German: C
Systems and Control: C
Religious Education: C

German was the subject I did worst in, I should've got an A in that. RE was a short course (2 lessons a fortnight) and I didn't particularly want to do it either.

English I did better than expected, Maths worse, Geography worse (I was 2 points off an A*) and Science and History I did ok.

Cheers

I'm in my last year at secondary school, taking my GCSEs in May/June next year. If I do well in English and Maths I'll be happy, I've been predicted a minimum C in both. I'm also taking Spanish, Electronics, Geography and History.

We take RE early at my school, and I got an A*  Smile

I'm half Spanish, and got an A in my AS (cos you can't get A*!)

Got the big lot of them next year.

The exams, by the way, are NOT easier. Every year, the same %age of the population is awarded the same grade, eg, 35% may get Cs, to account for the exam one year being easier or harder, to not allow this to have an effect. Even if they WERE easier, the same number of top/average/bottom grades are awarded. Hope this makes sense!
