It took only 2 weeks, but already the "big 3" are out in front: Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea.
The biggest game on the weekend was Man Utd's win against Newcastle. After sluggish start, Man Utd came good in the 2nd half and blew away Newcastle, who simply had no answer. Roy Keane was in sparking form. How on earth O'brien didn't get sent off on that crude tackle on Giggs is this week's question of the week?? Also, funny to see Fergie get sent off!!
More impresive, albeit against slightly inferior opposition was the mighty gunners! It took only 4 minutes for Henry to leave open his account and by half time, it was all over. Wiltord put the icing on the cake and we ran out handsome winners 4-0. For some reason, we always seem to score plenty at the Riverside. Last 2 times we have gone up there we have won 4-1 and 4-0?? and 3 seasons agao we won 6-1 up there as well. Also, not even a card was handed out to an Arsenal player!
Chelsea paraded their new signings for the first time. Apparently, the preview had 8 pages dedicated to each signing!!! Maybe CHRISBA777ER can confirm this? Started off well, with an awful own goal by Nallis. Then they relaxed a bit it seemed and took things a bit too easy, and Leicseter duly equalised. Then came Mutu, with an unstopable drive, 2-1 it finished with Geremi (shouldn't have been sent off), Smicea (shouldn't have been sent off) and Rogers (should have been send off) . Now Hernan will be joining the club of billionaires sometime this week...
Otrher results, Liverpool played an entertaining draw with Aston Villa. Both had a number of chances to score, but lacked that final touch. Really bad 2 footed lunge by Gerrard, should have been a straight red! But hey, he is an England international, can't send him off can we?
Bolton really should have won against Blackburn, who had Dwight Yorke to thank for, 2-2 it finished also Blackburn had Reid sent off. Man City played their first competitive match at the new City of Machester Stadium and scored a last minute goal to Sommeil to stave off defeat against a impressive Porthsmouth side, 1-1 it finished. Totenham beat Leeds 2-1, with new sigining Frederic Kanoute on the park for literally a few seconds and scoring the winner. Also, impressive goal by Taricco.
Everton comfortable beat Fulham 3-1, with impeding signing Sean Davis probably thinking he has made the right move. Wolves compared to last week did marginally better against Charlton, going down 4-0; who had Scott Parker sent off. Could have been worse for Wolves. And finally, for our Southampton fans, they finished goaless against Birmingham.
