Do the actors come into the audience and talk to you. I hear Jay Leno does this?

Or been on a game show? COME ON DOWN!!!!!!

Especially a Jerry Springer taping!! Big grin

I was in the audience for the game show Scrabble back in 1988, Chuck Wollery (Love Connection etc) would in between takes come through the audience and make small talk. Nice guy.

They did not air the episode I attended for a number of months, and when they did I could see the back of my head (I think?).

I was on the taping of this talk show on VH1 when I went to LA during spring break last year, (I forgot the name of the show, but I think now it has been canceled). We were on the Universal Studios where I spotted a booth with "Free Television Tickets" on it. The free tickets were for Craig Kilborn show or this VH1 show. Since the VH1 show promised more interesting stars (David Boreanaz, Vanessa Carlton, and Stone Temple Pilots) we decided to take the VH1 tickets.

The taping took place in a small studio in Sunset Boulevard and once inside we were told to laugh or clap differently according to the cues. They announced that there was a change of plans and that the guests were going to be Bill Maher and Alanis Morissette, little did I know that Alanis already taped her performance beforehand so we were shown only the video, damn, I was looking forward to see here live and gloat to my friends..hehe...but we did get to see Bill Maher live.

The episode aired that night and I was literally on TV as towards the end of the show, this host (a really goofy guy) was standing in front of me so the camera caught me and my friends. Overall it was a fun experience, but still I felt cheated cause I didn't really get to see Vanessa Carlton, STP, or Alanis.

I was walking through NYC back in January, and we were given tickets to Letterman. It was different than I expected. Everything happened in real time. I thought it would be more laid back and edited to fit the time alotted for TV.

Dave came out and took about 2 questions before they started taping, but that was about it. During commercials he mostly just talked to the director.

Actually, I went to a taping of Jerry Springer. "Mate Swapping Disasters" was the show topic. I have it on tape. We sat in the second row right in the center!

Also, The Price is Right about a year ago. I forgot to tape it.  Sad

I went to a live airing of CNN's Crossfire at GWU in D.C. last month. I was even lucky enough to ask a question to Paul Begala on the air.

Oh sure plenty of tapings, I am a background actor, basically the guy that sits in the back smiles, claps, or just walks back & forth. Tapings are fun, during the breaks, the nice celebrities will mingle with the crowd, on one taping that I was on, Bob Barker was telling dirty jokes. Well, next thing you know it, we were telling jokes as well, I told a joke that made Bob Barker blush. During some tapings they sometimes have a comedian to warm the crowd up and get them excited, hell, one taping that I was on, they were feeding candy to us, to pump up our sugar level!

When I was in college I went ona spring break trip to LA, and was in the audience for "The Mike Douglas Show" and the "Tonight Show." The former was at the CBS "television city" studio and the latter at the NBC Burbank location. Douglas was charming and very nice to the audience. Carson was pleasant, but more aloof.

Years ago, when they were new, I did a Maury Povich show as well as Rolanda Watts (yeah, that lasted long).

both were done in NY and were interesting. Funny thing about the cameras is you never know where they are. I would listen intently to to speakers and while I listened, I rested my chin on my clasped hand.

When the shows came to air, they both had they full head shots of me taken from somewhere in the ceiling. Pretty funny and completely unexpected.

Hey Mike, tell us the joke that made Bob Barker blush!

Always wanted to see a Springer show simply to witness the "canned chaos" myself. Never got around to it though.

I went to a taping of Ricki Lake last August. During the breaks people were talking to her and asking her questions. She was really sweet and friendly.

i haven't exaclty 'been' to a taping. just around the corner from my house is NBC's studio where they film the show "third watch." they are always taping stuff in my neighborhood and i have on several occasions been used as an extra. even my car was used for a hit-and-run scene. though, i am unsure as to when that will air.

by they way, the show's season premier is 22 Sept. 2003, 2100, NBC.

I went to a taping of David Letterman about a year ago. It was a really fun experience. The theater is way smaller than it looks on TV. Letterman comes out and talks with the audience before every show, and he's as funny as he is on TV. The guests were Harrison Ford and a band called You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead. Never heard of them before that show. It's pretty easy to get tickets. They call you up and ask you a question about the show, and if you get it right, you get the tickets.
