I would really like to know, because I'm one myself.

Me too. I just got Sim City 4 a week or two ago and am pretty much hooked. By far the best version of the game (however I haven't played SC3000). So much to do and build, plus being able to build an entire region of cities is pretty cool. Can't wait for the first expansion pack to come out either.

Unfortunately, even with my new computer, the game can get sluggish. In defense of my comp, it doesn't have a seperate 3D video card (which would help alot). But the game is pretty complex even before you bring the graphics into play. So a fast machine with plentify memory, and a good 3D graphics video card with at least 64mb of memory is a must to get the full experience.

I have SC3000Unlimited and played it constantly for weeks...but have slacked off lately. Loved it, it's very addicting.

What improvements are there with Sim City 4?

The good thing about SC3K is that it doesn't run on my machine... If else, I'd probably be playing it all the time! A nice new terrain, largest size, with "easy" start is everything I want to build a booming 1.5 million people city and have some fun for days!

Mmm, Simcity. Played them all back on the day, these times around I can't find time for it....

I used to build a city up, then I would jack taxes up for a year or so, until they started complaining then I would lower them and attract more business. I did that off and on and my cities really took off....

SimCity 2000--------- my friend and I would trade half hour turns on it ALL day. Jeez those were good times.

3000 was awful, and SimCity4 was nice, but got old fast for some reason, didn't have the replay that 2000 did.

I agree with BlatantEcho. I used to ALWAYS and I mean 2-4 hours playing it. SC3K was awful, but I am now abosulutely hooked on Sim City 4 and I still can't wait. What are your favorite Sim City Names(Cities YOU made)?

Retro strategy & micromanagement games can be hugely addictive.

Warcraft 2 is cute too  Smile/happy/getting dizzy or Transport Tycoon if you want something really retro.

Ohhhh Transport Tycoon rules!

Definitely the best game in its kind.
Nothing like building an entire "real" nation. I spent hours and hours creating France, the UK,Scandinavia and Northern Italy...and obviously developing them.

How about "Airport Tycoon" or "Airport Tycoon 2"? Has anyone tried those out?

I fail to see why SC3K could be awful, but everyone's got his/her own taste.

Now who's into Civ III?

Try ruling the French, they're productive like a robot. That's the way I win, although I always choose to be a "chief" (lowest level) - so nobody will start attacking me and I don't need armed forces in the beginning. And I always let them discover the "technology: republic", because productivity will basically skyrocket in a republic (vs despotism) and you'll be able to expand very quickly.

Oh well, guess I shouldn't have been playing it that much...  Laugh out loud

I have played all 3 kinds.. Plus the Very very original Sim City that was on Super Nintendo many years ago. Great times indeed.

I loved SC2K, the 3D feature which was new at the time got me very very hooked. SC3K was alright. Hey at least I won a contest for Best Sci-Fi Building.  Smile Maxis sent me a load of prizes.
SCU was alright but nothing special.. Maybe the tilesets were neat.. Especially the asian one.

I now have SC4 and that is a really good game but cuz my comp is slow I can't play it alot so I am missing out on the full potential of it. Heck I havent even seen Stage 7 and 8 buildings yet!

Also, the airport designs are sweet! They coulda did more with Bridges and highways as I dont like the elevated expressway type of layout.
