How Much Is It To See A Movie Where You Live?

Mon Sep 15, 2003 1:52 am

It depends where I go in Dallas, if I stay around my house in the city its about $8.00-$9.00. If I'm around my school in Arlington, its about $7.00, but I can usually get a dollar off because they will honor my SID card. That being said, I havent seen a movie in ages.

It depends on the day and I have to admit that the price system of my favorite cinema is really confusing:

Monday:
Adults: EUR 5,00
Children: EUR 5,00

Super Kino Tuesday:
Adults: EUR 4,00
Children. EUR 3,00

Wednesday before 5pm
Adults: EUR 5,50
Children: EUR 5,00
from 5pm
Adults: EUR 5,50
Children: EUR 5,50

Thursday/Friday/SaturdaySunday
before 5pm
Adults: EUR 6,00
Children: EUR 5,00
from 5pm
Adults: EUR 8,00
Children: EUR 5,50

I thought the 6.5 Euro I pay was expensive, but with seeing the above, it is still quite cheap!

5 years ago it was about 4 euro.

£3.80 ($6-$7) around the East Midlands, UK. But I haven't been for about a year so it could have gone up.

At Slovenia's major multiplex with stadium seating (pics below), the standard ticket price is SIT950, which is roughly $4.50. The first showing of the day for most movies costs only SIT650, which is a bit over $3.00. That does not include any discounts.

From kolosej.si

**************************

Here in Arizona, my favorite place (photo below) charges $6.50 for matinees and $8.50 for the evening shows (athough it's always $6.50 for seniors).

From cinematour.com

The major art/independent/foreign place in town charges $6.50 for matinees and $8.00 for evening shows, again without the discounts.

Wow. You guys pay a LOT:

For the regular cinema (which is really good) It is less than 5.00 US. If matinee or before 4 pm it goes down to 3.50. Wednesday all day is half price (2.50-3.00 USD).

For the nice cinemas (VIP) (Only 80-100 reclinable, wide leather seats with table for snacks per theater, a-la-carte service for drinks, martinis, crèpes, sushi) etc... it costs about 8.00 USD. Wednesday half price. Check these at www.cinepolisvip.com

Usually somewhere between €4 and €8 - depending on the choice of cinema, time, special offers, &c.

Seems like a fair price to me, except when teenage cretins decide to use their GSMs during the movie, or shout to their friends, or...

Depends on the time and the "attraction" and the "class" of theatre. Generally, around Detroit you can count on $7 to $8 for first-run on a weekend, about $2.75 to $4 for off-times or matinees (or is that manitees?).

Anyway, I usually opt to donate to save the manitees and watch for free on cable after they are avail unless it's something that is particularly special to me...Jack

The closest theatre to where I live is about 25 miles away. It is the Mill Theatre in Milbank, South Dakota.

Prices are $5.00 for all movies with a $3.00 matinee on Sunday afternoons.

They have three screens and the movies are always very current. In fact it is rare if we don't have a movie on it's opening weekend. The concession prices are very reasonable also.

Yeah, things are still priced pretty reasonable out here in Rural America.

Yep! Ticket prices in Japan are very expensive and small seats for my fat arse!

In California, ticket prices are up to $9 US dollars, I believe in New York (Manhattan) they must be hovering around the $12 US dollar range

Here in Geneva, its around 16 Francs, which is over 10 Euros or 11.50 dollars! Got most of you all beat there.

In fact, if you are talking about the cost of a movie for two people, with a couple of drinks and some popcorn, it is cheaper to wait for the film to come out on DVD, buy it, and build up your home cinema system.

CDN$13.50 for an evening show, $8.00 for a weekday matinee and $10.00 for a weekend matinee. Movie theatres are highway robbery IMHO. I'll bet they've jacked prices up even more since I last checked.

Most of the new, big AMC cinemas charge $5 for a matinee and $7 for a show after 7:00pm. Student discounts are available of course. There's one 9-screen cinema near the airport which shows first run movies for $4 (matinee) and $6 (evening).

The cheapest I payied until now was in Cuba, 1 Cuban Peso (the Peso for Cuban people) around us$ 0,10  Smile .. and the theatre wasn't bad ...

Prices in Toronto are the same as ...Iamcanadian pays!

$9.50 for a regular evening show & $4 - $7 for matinees etc.

Way to overpriced..........I'd rather wait until they are released on video.
