U.S. Vetoes U.N. Resolution On Arafat

Now if Israel will just give Arafat the boot, maybe things can move forward a little bit.

The telling tale is that the UN has filed endless tales of woe against Israel, endless criticism, and lots of resolutions, yet as declared at the UN today, Nolt one resolution, not one word of condemnation or criticism has ever been made about the 860 Israelies killed by homicide bombers, that's something like 120 suicide missions in the last few years....

"There hasn't been one resolution condemning the killing of 860 Israelis through suicide and homicide bombing," Gissin said. "One hundred and twenty suicide bombers penetrated Israel in the past three years -- not one condemnation of that."

correct. And no condemnation either of the Yom Kippur and six day wars when Jordan Syria and Egypt invaded Israel.
No condemnation of the Jordanian invasion of 1948 when Jordan occupied the west bank.
No condemnation of the Syrian invasion of Lebanon in 1981 (yet the Israeli invasion in 1982 which was meant to drive the Syrians out of Lebanon again was condemned).

Of course the draftees of the latest resolution knew full well that any condemnation of terrorism in their text would clash heavily with their protection of Arafat who is the de facto leader of those terrorists and they know it.

This is bad! Very bad! Really bad!

So the US is against protecting a legally and democratically elected leader... disgusting! But I am equally disgusted about the UK and Germany for abstaining the vote. Damn, even in my vacation bad news reach me.

I better not gonna comment on Israels vows here right now...  Pissed

"The fact that the U.S. delegation used its veto is something extremely regrettable," he said. "It only complicates a situation in the Middle East that is already very complicated."

Yup, sure complicates things with all the trouble they're having trying to eradicate the Jews and get them off of what Muslims believe is specifically THEIR holy land and no one else's. Too bad the pesky Israelis have powerful friends.

Arafat is a democratically elected terrorist who is 1) Unwilling 2) Unable to dismantle the terrorist organizations operating within the Palestinian territories.

Therefore, I have to agree with Israel that in that context, he is as good as being "irrelevant".

GWB was democratically elected yet some of you think he should be booted out too (for not doing a proper job/being a liability to the entire world/whatever) !

I don't think building settlements or land-grabbing is acceptable at all, and Israel should stop being so damned provocative.

But revenge through mass murder is totally disproportional, and anyway, Hamas' aim is to drive Jews into the sea. If Arafat won't/can't stop suicide bombings, someone has to, and that is then the job of the Israeli army (since Israel has declared "war" against Hamas & similar organizations). And it would help if the IDF stopped killing people who have nothing to do with terrorism....

One also has to question what Sharon's long-term strategy is....
