Fri Sep 19, 2003 10:28 am

Any A.net member ever have a fake ID? What has been your experience with them? How well do they work?

Thanks,

They work really well if you like to ride in police cars and share rooms with Bubba.  Smile

I used to have one (a fake California drivers license) that I got in Atlanta, and held onto it for a about a year. A clerk at a gas station in St. Louis took it though last summer--he threatened to call the po-po, but I just decided to let him take it, and not raise an issue (mainly because I wouldve been heading out in the back of a police car). I thought it looked damn good, the only problem was that the holograms werent the official ones.

Under the Patriot Act, it's a federal crime to have fake official documents, such as a fake ID. Watch out, Ashcroft's coming for you!  Big grin

Ok, I'll take the halo off for a minute...
Back in college I found it was easier to just use someone else's real ID. Simply find a friend that wasn't going out for the night that had the same hair color, and borrow his/her id.
Of course, being older and wiser now, I'd have to say don't do it, but I'll leave the moral issues to you.

Obviously, Cba is under twenty years old. Forgery and fraudulent identification and use thereof was illegal way before Ashcroft and the Patriot Act (and before you, Cba, were born)..jack

Yeah, because I'm sure that state knows that you were issued a fake ID....

I used to have one but we're talking ages ago. I turned 21 ten years ago. I dono't know how one would go about getting one now, but back then to get a really good one you borrowed a friend's birth certificate and backup I.D. and went to the DMV and got an actual license in their name. I do not think this would work in this day and age though. Damn the DMV for getting all high-tech. Same goes for caller-ID. I used to have some mad fun prank calling people until all that caller-ID stuff started.  Sad

Sophiemaltese,

Actually they just did a inquiry on our id issuing processes, and 100% of the time the government investigators showed the workers at the DMV fake information and the investigators were able to obtain the id's with out any problem, so it can still be done with "real" enough paperwork.

well, I haven't tried to get a fake ID for years, so I wasn't sure if that still worked.

Nikibary, I want to get one next time I'm in NY that says I'm younger if they look real! At least I have ID checkers now look at mine and do a double take and say "you don't look it."

Mine was $60, and it wouldve been $35 if I didnt get any holograms on it. For those of you in Atlanta, I got it at the Lakewood flea market (in other words, you better be packing heat when you go).  Big grin

Uhhhh, not really. Not until I got it taken away in St. Louis as I mentioned in my previous post. The guy in St. Louis had a book (produced by Anheiser-Busch, I beleive) with pictures of every state's IDs and their holograms (the ID looked authentic, but the holograms were not). I look my age, 20, but really not a day older. You just have to be careful about where and how you use it.. Just don't go into any convenience store or liquor place...Liquor stores are tough when it comes to using a fake. We'd usually hit a liquor store in Chamblee or Doraville if we wanted hard stuff because those parts of town were pretty seedy and the people behind the register didnt really care. If you are at a convenience store and you get suspicious looks from the cashier, just put the beer down and walk out. Also, whatever you do, DO NOT carry it around with you....keep it at home and only bring it when you need to.

Liquor stores are tough when it comes to using a fake.

In ATLANTA? You have gotta be kidding me Josh. I was buying stuff in Atlanta when I was 17 and can count the number of times that I was denied on one hand. I used the old "hello please I am from India and I have no ID written in English" routine and it worked every time. One guy even called the cops on me but I managed to convince the officer I was legit and he okayed the sale!

We did most of our shopping at Northside Liquor on Northside drive between 14th street and Howell Mill Rd. Great guys there. We even negotiated "bulk discounts" when we spent $500 or more in a single trip (I used to take orders and buy for the entire dorm).

Of course, I then worked undercover for the police and started busting folks who used Fake IDs.... Takes a crook to catch a crook eh?  Smile

A small problem, I'm not Indian. I lived outside the perimeter (on the Fulton Cty. side of Duluth), and so the liquor stores where I lived were pretty upscale and due to the large amount of teenagers in the area, the liquor stores would always get pressure from local groups to crack down. Alpharetta and Duluth were tough. Really the only way we'd buy liquor out there is if we got someone who looked much older to buy it for us. Most of the time we'd get our stuff from Celebrity Liquor on Chamblee-Dunwoody (which very convenient to my high school).

I love how this country has a fit about supposed "underage" people drinking. They can't get safely-produced, regulated beer and spirits, so they instead go and smoke dope. What a micromanaged police state we live in.

Fake IDs? Not a good idea these days. Why don't you just obey the law? It seems much safer and easy to do....
