If that kids wants to say BG
isn't a competitive team, after they dominated the #1 defense in the Big Ten two weeks ago in Purdue, that's fine by me. It was the same thing with all those naysayers last December who said Ohio State didn't belong on the same field as Miami of Florida (Oh, pardon me, I have to sneeze....KROC!!! That's better.
) and then had to eat their words.
We'll know tomorrow afternoon if BG
is a worthy opponent or not. I find it amusing the author of that article said SDSU wasn't a challenging opponent, after the Aztecs came damn close to beating the Buckeyes, and actually way outplayed Ohio State.
Again, we'll see tomorrow. As for FFkid's bemoaning that "it's about the money", for a mid-level major, they'd jump at the chance to get a big payday to boost the bottom line of the Athletic Department. OSU
Athletic Director Andy Geiger made a commitment a few years back to have OSU
schools from Ohio, much as Michigan and MSU have done with Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan for years. He said that OSU
would rather help out a school within Ohio, and keep the money in-state, than playing someone else. And face it, with the exception of Notre Dame some years, no one plays a schedule devoid of cupcakes. Hell, Miami of Florida has picked on the likes of Troy State and Georgia State the last few years, so it's nothing new.
Again, right now, I'd take BG
and the 15 points.
Whether I'm right or not, we'll know about 3:30 Saturday. I plan to have a great time no matter what the results.
