A Thread For The Guys Who Workout.

Mon Sep 22, 2003 2:21 am

So Gentlemen-
Anything new, any new plateaus broken? Any new supplements? Any new gains in mass or lifts?

Anyone into the IFBB? Mr. Olympia is next month, who are your picks?

There's a new (kinda I think) supplement for protein in take. Its called ISOPURE. A friend of mine told me about it, said it tasted good....and works. I tried it....still gag on the protein...just can't down them after trying numerous brands. But I've heard great things about it. I'll have to skip the shakes and increase my red meat intake....

If you're looking for a new protein source....might give it a shot.

My progress over the last several months has been generally good. I've been concentrating more on free weights as opposed to machines, especially on compound exercises. To give an example, I was using 75-pound dumbbells for bench pressing a couple of months ago, and now I'm up to 90-pounders for a set of eight and may try the 95's next week. I've also started making deadlifts a regular part of the routine. There are some plateaus, especially squats, where I've been stuck at 275 for a set of eight for something like the past six weeks. But all in all, things have gone well.

I don't want to get shafted here..
But I have been busting through my plateaus lately

On incline I got 315 2x's, on Bench I got 325 2x's, on Shrugs, I got 700 8x's. (I will be going to 1,000 soon) and on leg press I got 1,000 2x2. Next month I am going for 1200 4 times.

Well that's the thing about plateaus, they're frustrating, but they don't last forever. You get through them, eventually.
Pretty impressive amounts on shrugs. You're using lifting straps, I presume?

May I see a pic of you AA, I would be amazed to see the size of your chest when you bench three plates on incline bench!!!

I now use Mus-l-blast 2000. I use it a few times a week, since we don't lift much during the football season. I do about 2 plates and a 5 6-7 times. It's gone down due to football, but right after we win the championship in the Metrodome, it'll soar when I lift daily and use the supplements I have now!

Prosa- I don't use straps. I have been meaning to get Harbinger gloves though with some wrist support.
I noticed with my plateaus they have been rather short in the past 2 months. I love it!

Continental- I don't have any shots of me on the net yet. I may submit some shots to Flex Magazine in their "Talk Back" section though. I will keep you guys posted about that. I should mention, I focus more on upper chest than mid chest. For me it has always been stronger.
