at the age of 54 as a result of a heart attack in Paris.

Biggest hit was "Addicted to Love".

I loved "every kinda people", especially the remixes using Spanish guitars..it's not a good year for singers, it seems...
I know it's only VfB but I like it!

"SImply Irresistable" was another one of his hits. Well, they say it happens in 3's right? John Ritter, Johnny Cash, now Rovert Palmer. Terrible.

Actually when actor Larry Hovis, who played Sgt Carteron "Hogan's Heros" died within hours of Cash and Ritter, that made three. Maybe we're headed for another three, who knows?

Loved "Addicted to Love", it was the first 80's song I knew all the lyrics. "Simply Irresistible" was also great.

RIP...

I knew he was a heavy smoker for years........He defined 80s music! I remember the videos for "addicted to love" and "simply irresistible," The see-through black blouses........guess I need to check out VH1!

These things come in threes?

I don't have immediate access to the statistics, but I would hazard a guess that more than 3 people die in the world every day....

Furthermore I find it baffling how the passing of a celebrity is often considered so significant, but the opinion of a celebrity is often very vehemently opposed as insignificant.

It just exposes the hypocracy of our culture that places so much value on celebrity, as long as they do what we want....act, dance, sing and look pretty doing it.

Having said that, my condolences to Mr. Palmer's family and to the families of everyone else that passed away today.

My favorite was the dual mix songs by Marvin Gaye that he did.

I was shocked to hear the news as well.

Lstc aside, the first thing that came into my mind was the "they come in threes" thing when I heard the news this morning. And at 54, Robert Palmer was the same age as John Ritter. shocking coincidence.

I liked his music as well. Don't own any of his albums but I have hit hits on several compilations. He had a very distinct voice and style. Such a shame to lose yet another celebrity.  Sad

"Celebrity" is one thing he wasn't. He shunned the limelight, hated interviews, and spent 15 years in the music industry before his first hit, something which probably wouldn't happen anymore.

Curious about the thing of it coming in threes. I'm pretty sure that hardly anyone in Britain has ever heard of John Ritter. Perspective I suppose.

I like his LP 'Big Fun'.

I can't believe he is dead.

His death will not be in vain, the better part of 80s music is on its way back!!!

I don't have any Palmer albums at my current location, so I'm using "Addicted to Spuds", Weird Al.

He will be sorely missed.

He was the only man with any dress sense in the entire 1980s music scene.
