Detroit Tigers To Make Baseball History?

Sat Sep 27, 2003 10:12 pm

With only a couple of games left, the bar betting here in Detroit is pretty heavy on whether the Tigers will make history as the losingest team in modern baseball. How long has it been since your home team has had a REALLY miserable season and how long did it take them to get back to a respectable win-loss season? ...Jack

I believe that title is currently held by the New York Mets.  Big thumbs up

At least my NY Mets were an expansion team when they dropped a 120 games! Not a team with a 100 year history. Sorry about that D-Town.

I went to a Tigers Game at the end of July. I was wearing Mets gear and cheering all game for Detroit to lose and break the record. Come on D-Town...DO IT! Besides, if you do, you will get another Jim Rome World Tour Stop!!!

Hey guys, it takes some serious effort to lose this many games. KROC, that's a hilarious story, btw. What a way to rub it in!  Big grin

My heart goes out to Tiger fans as I enjoy watching my team wrap up a year of .620 ball...

Well, Jesse Orosco (what is he , like 52 years old?) threw a wild pitch in the 9th, leading the Tigers past the mighty A.L. Central division champs 9-8. The Tiger's record stands at 43-119.

According to Thomas Boswell in Friday's Washington Post, even if the Tigers lose tomorrow, their record will be a few percentage points better than the '62 Mets (since the Mets had a couple of unmade-up rain outs that year). Time to break out the old video tape of Game 5 of the 1984 World Series. Can't do anything like that in Boston or Chicago, that's for sure!

Maggs swings, it's a drive deep to left! The Tigers are going to the World Series!!!

By the way, the Tigers came back from an 8-0 deficit to win tonight, 9-8.

I hope that franchise turns around soon, they have an excellent history, new ball park and fans waiting for something to cheer about.

Yup the won tonight, so they won't make the history book.

Another failure on the part of that team.
