A Consistently Good Actor, Despite Urban Legend

Mon Oct 06, 2003 9:20 am

I was watching Primal Fear with Richard Gere.

Then I thought of some of the other flicks Gere has been in...

Chicago
Pretty Woman
The Jackal
An Officer and a Gentleman(which I first saw a few weeks ago)

Looking back, I gotta say that gerbil or not, this guy does pretty well with roles.

Any other flicks of his worth seeing?

Wonder what Gerbils think of his acting ability?

Actually, he was quite good in Internal Affairs!

However, thinking of The Jackal - the original (Day of the Jackal) was better, including the cast...

Somehow, just from reading the topic title, I knew you were talking about Richard Gere... Big grin

I like his acting, he was good in "Primal Fear", albeit he was a little upstaged by Edward Norton (in his first major role, I believe). He was a great jerk in "Internal Affairs", the way he played mind games on Andy Garcia. I can't believe it's actually him singing in "Chicago".

Multi-talented (acting, singing, gerbils, etc.)

Richard Gere was in the movie "And the band played on", it was a special on HBO. He played a gay Broadway casting director, believe it or not, he was pretty convincing. I think that Richard Gere tries to pick good movie roles and not that he is a good actor, just an average one.

Internal Affairs is my favorite Gere movie. Unfaithful is another good one, as is The Mothman Prophecies.

Anyone saw a movie he also stared in called Breathless? In a nutshell, it's about his character (who's a bit of a trouble maker) having the hots for a French girl who (I believe) was employed as a translator (or, something along those lines). Interesting movie. The co-star was/is a beautiful (hot!) looking actress. I especially liked the shower scene ;-]

Richie, is also banned from ever visiting China because of his Tibet stand and that movie he did about their legal system.

What was the name of it, I don't remember.
