What does everyone think of the latest concepts created by Stelios Haji-Ioannou, much respected founder of easyJet As always early bookings and people willing to travel/eat/cruise/view at off peak times get the lowest prices.
The only one of the above currently operating: a 10-screen cinema in Miltown Keynes. Cheapest prices start from £0.20 (€.0.35). However occupancy levels are struggling in the 20-30% range because distributors are refusing to give easyCinema first run films: discrimination says Stelios, pricing issues say the distributors.
Cruise ships sailing the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean during the winter starting in mid-2004 if a suitable (second hand) vessel can be sourced and refurbished. Aimed at young people and families with prices starting at £29 (€40) per person, “room” only (which you have to clean yourself). People will be able to start and end their cruise at any point.
A room (fibre glass unit) from £5 (€7) per night. While it includes a toilet and shower unit, you will have to clean it yourself (or be fined £20/€28) and bring (or buy) your bedding and toiletries. First one will likely be in the centre of London.
Medium distance intercity minibus services. Initial route will be London – Birmingham starting at £1 (€1.40). Company is already searching for drivers.
Pizzas starting from £1 (€1.40).
So what does everyone think? Some are more revolutionary than others, for example there is nothing that new about the hotel concept (thinking Formule1 and the pod hotels in Japan). Some of his other ventures including easyMoney, easyCar and easyEverything have only been mildly successful.
