Who Reads The Darwin Awards?

Tue Oct 14, 2003 8:31 am

Who here has read the book "The Darwin Awards"? Here are some of my favorites out of them (since I don't have the book with me, I'll just give a report from what I remember...

A Canadian Lawyer was on one of the top floors of a Toronto Skyscraper. He was touring students around the building, and showing them around. He decided it would be a nice idea to show the students the duribillity of the glass on the high-rise office building. Common-sense popped into his head(sarcastic) and he decided to give the glass a small bump with his shoulder. Wouldn't ya know it, the glass broke and he plunged 34 stories to his death.

Three kids have a dad who is about to give away a perfectly good jakoozee(May have been a hot tub). They also live right next to a major shipping canal, and they decided, that before the dad gives it away, it would be fun to float the canal on the jakooze. They put the tub in the water, got in, and they happily saw it floated. They floated down, and they noticed a little water splashed in. One of the friends thought that maybe if they pull up on the drain, the water will drain out! You can already guess what happened from here and they were pulled out of the water around 30 minutes or so later and were nearly frozen but alright.

Those are my favorites, and I know that some of the info is wrong. There are many other very funny stories.

Btw...This gives me an idea...hmmmmm.......... Confused  Wink/being sarcastic

I wasn't aware that a book was published about these incidents. I've only read the various antics of stange humans via e-mails. Is there a website, I wonder?

Yeah I check on that website when I get bored for a good laugh. Some pretty dumb people in this world. Another good read is the Stella awards. Awards for extremely stupid lawsuites. Named after the lady that sued McDonalds for spilling her hot coffee and burning herself. Go to google and check them out.

One of my favorites:

A man was driving a motor home, put the cruise control on and went into the back to make a cup of coffee........He ended up suing the manufacturer of the motor home because it did not say in the owners manual that he had to stay at the wheel the entire time!!!!

That's an urban myth. It's usually updated to make the subject an Irishman, an inept woman driver, an Arab, ... at least you're telling the politically correct version  Big grin

Book Alert:

"Darwin Awards 3" was released today. I didn't get a chance to look at it (kinda hard to do when you have a bunch of books changing out), but it is safe to say it's another edition of people doing things that make you want to say, "Hey You! Out of the gene pool!"

I'm thinking on how I'm gonna do this "idea" that I have. Hmmm....., I wonder. Think KROC/Matt D for a hint.

How do you post in HTML or a picture on the internet away from Airliners.net? Could someone give me a tutorial?
