Let's Go Cubbies!

Wed Oct 15, 2003 4:09 am

All I have to say is that the CUBBIES have to kick the Marlins' butt tonight and take us all the way to the World Series. Never did I think that we would see this happen.....COME ON CUBS!

I think the whole free world, except for Miami, wants the Cubs in the Series. A Cubs/Red Sox series would be delicious as would a Cubs/Yankees series. You gotta know that network TV is rooting for Chicago. What a great story! Dusty Baker is the Bill Parcells of baseball.

As a long time Cubbie fan, this could truly be a sign that the apocolypse is upon us.

Harry and Jack are probably sitting on a nice couch, kickin back with a couple of Old Styles!

Hopefully, this will truly be "next year"

If the Cubs win it all, Jack and Harry can finally RIP!

I never thought I'd see the day that the Cubbies would make the Series. Not that that was something I was living for, but anyway.....the fish are hooked, caught, fileted, grilled, smoked, eaten, and chased with a Budweiser.

I'm not sure about the FOX execs, but I am not convinced that the FOX announcers are... In fact, it's entirely the opposite.

For a prime time, penant series, they sound like all three of them are unconscious!

I have no choice but to pull for the Cubs, I mean they knocked my Braves out of the playoffs. But i have to admit that they are a great story and I wish them the best. GO Cubbies and Red Sox!!!.

Well -- Cub fans realized last night that a curse is a curse, and a can't be overcome by a few good young pitchers...

I have a feeling the Cubs are going to have to wait at least another year. I honestly don't think the Cubs will recover from this. I really don't.

I tend to agree with Alpha 1 above. It was wierd watching how the team came completely unglued following the interference incident. Akin to Buckner in the 1986 World Series, this has clearly rattled the Cubs.
Maggs swings, it's a drive deep to left! The Tigers are going to the World Series!!!

I'd much rather be facing the Marlins in the World Series than the Cubs, but I have a feeling your Cubbies will do just fine tonight with Wood at the helm.

MAN.....not what we expected last night at all. I was with a group of friends in a bar across from the Field and we were all set to party in the street and all hell broke loose with the team. Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong....

- fan interference
- kept Prior in too long
- short stop error
- a hit into the Ivy

among other things......

Not sure how I feel about tonight. There was a vibe and energy in the air last night and I just can't feel it anymore. Walking home down the middle of Clark St. after the game was quite depressing...

We still have some hope though....its not over yet. Hopefully last night was just a wake up call the Cubs that they have to "step up to the plate!"

I'll be holding my breath.....

Hopefully, with Kerry Wood on the mound, everything will turn out right. I just keep thinking back to 1984 when the Cubs went up 2-0 on the Padres, only to lose three straight. The most haunting visual from that was shown on ESPN last night, the ball rolling through the legs of Leon "Bull" Durham! Very similar to the Bill Buckner play in the 1986 World Series.

Oh well, still have a half case of Bud in the fridge, will be sitting there tonight and win or lose, I am proud of my Cubbies!

Greg
