Show You Most Want To See Brought Back/remade?

Fri Oct 31, 2003 2:48 am

What old show would you like to see either originally brought back onto the air, or remade with modern actors/animation?

Some recent ones which have are: Johnny Quest, He-Man, Transformers, Justice League (i.e., SuperFriends), etc.

Most of my old faves are still on the air and/or in syndication... though I wouldnt mind seeing "She-Ra", "Beetlejuice", or "Myth Men: Guardians of the Legend" brought back  Big grin

you pick up on some good ones.

like He-Man, She-Ra, Transformers, Thundercats, Voltron, Pinwheel (a Nickelodeon hit back in early 90's/late 80's just like Noozles, Inspector Gadget, Count Duckula, Cities of Gold), Frigo Rock, something that aired on the UPN networks like 1991 called Ultraman that was Power Rangers before power rangers - i hate power rangers, Heathcliff, Alf, etc.

I am sure I could think of more, like Rainbow Brite and My little Pony and CareBears and Teddy Ruxpin and Ghostbusters the animated Series and Beverly Hills Teens (the cartoon version of 90210 that came out 3 years before)...

Golly, those shows were cool, at lesat they still play Ducktales on disney.

Cities of Gold

Are you referring to the one about the boy who could fly a Golden Condor in search of El Dorado? If so, wow! I thought I was like the only one on Earth who remembered that cartoon! Big grin

Frigo Rock

Perhaps you mean "Fraggle Rock"?  Big grin

Cities of gold

Err... there was Esteban, and Tau, and Zia?
They had a sidekick - some kind of parrot?
Plus, the Conquistadores were the bad guys.

Ulysses was similar... but I couldn't keep track of it. It just seemed like a pointless series of random events loosely arranged into a saga (like the original, really). He had a sidekick robot that ate nuts & bolts?

Cities of Gold was cool. They could remake that.

I'm glad you asked, because I was thinking this very day about some television series that I'd like to see again. The two that came to mind were:

Northern Exposure -- I LOVED that show. I didn't miss an episode.

Twin Peaks -- Was wierd, and I didn't really get it. But I didn't miss an episode of that either.

I'd pay money for DVD collections of those two shows!

And now, as I'm typing this, I'd really like to see "Wings" again. Naw, I'd just like to see the opening song and clip of the Cessna 402 flying. I used to just watch that and then I'd see what else was on.

Nowadays, when they try to remake something it just ends up sucking. I would like them to re-air the shows Twin Peaks, Fifteen, You Can't Do That on TV, and Tattoed Teenaged Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills.

Wings is currently played nearly every day (along with Cheers) on Nickelodeon's Nick@Nite

Thanks for the heads up. For some reason I thought Nick@Nite was all Sponge Bob... Sponge Bob sucks.

In all honesty, I don't really watch to much TV as it is. I'm lucky if I can get my hour of Simpsons in.

I know it just got cancelled last season, but, man, I miss "Futurama" - I put it on par with "The Simpsons" during its heyday (early-mid 90's).

Futurama (like Family Guy) has already been picked up by Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim", it can be seen weekdays at 10:30pm CST.

I totally agree on "Father Ted" and "Northern Exposure". I would really love to see another series of "Bottom" as well (just bought the DVD set, and have been laughing myself silly). In the same vein, "The Young Ones" would be a good one to bring back. I would also love to see a new series of "Beavis and Butthead". I would love to hear them go off on some of the music of today.

Black Sheep Squadron. I yearn to hear & see a Corsair again. Hopefully someone will put all 37 episodes on DVD, because I'll be first in line to buy it. Regards.

...what'd be really interesting would be to see the cycle continue, i.e.: Bud and Kel now have spouses/children with Al and Peg as grandparents  Smile

Whent the History Channel started reairing that a few years ago at noon, I had to reschedule my classes to watch it.

When is "Wings" on now? I was watching it at 0030, but when they had their [puke] Roasanne [/puke] marathon I lost it.

What I'd like to see come back was "Sky King" No, I'm not that old, someone showed me a few episodes on Beta (yes, I am THAT old) a number of years ago. Yeah, it was hokey, but in the 3 episodes I saw, he flew Cub, a T-50 and his "new" 310.

And when are they going to make a movie version of "Magnum PI" or "Miami Vice" ?

Anyone remember "Father Downing Mysteries" on either CBS or NBC like in 1990?

What about on Disney from 1991-1993 "Adventures in Wonderland", I miss Elisabeth Harnois then...she's still hot.  Love

I liked the "Lois and Clark: the new adventures of Superman" on ABC from 93-97.

"Unsolved Mysteries" only shows up on the Lifetime Channel now and only has crap that has to do with relationships (obviously).

This would be either really good or be a total flop, and i doubt they would get the cast this time around as the show is nothing without Ed O'neill and Katey Seagal who both are on ABC at the time

Hogan's Heroes. Although I doubt you could get as good a cast nowadays.

Also maybe Battlestar Galactica, with some of the original cast-not this remade stuff that SciFi will air in December. Making Starbuck a girl...puhleeez!  Laugh out loud

SeaQuest- Had real promise until the writers in season 2 started taking LSD.

As said above, Hawaii Five-O- There actually was a pilot written and filmed for a remake of the series with some of the original actors playing the same characters but in different roles such as Gov. Danno but it never aired.

OMG! I would love to see She-Ra on TV. The old He-Man too for that matter. (I think the new one sucks.) I've still got some of the videos and the action figures and all.

I remember the first time I got on a US A330, my very favorite part of the entertainment system was that it had episodes of Fraggle Rock and the Muppet Show! I made such a big deal about it to my travelling companion that the rest of the Envoy cabin and the f/a's all thought I was nuts.  Big grin
