Odd to add though, when I was being raised in Cleveland, we trick or treated on Halloween night. When I moved to Columbus, I found out that they don't do that, they specifically trick or treat on a different day called "Beggar's night" which is designed so that it doesn't fall on Halloween or on a weekend (I've heard of it being a safety issue.)
It may seem kind of lame, but there is a benefit. Each city in the Columbus metro area decides on the night Beggar's night will be, and they don't always choose the same day. So, sometimes, you can go trick or treating for two or even three days.
