My Photos Of The Lunar Eclipse

Sun Nov 09, 2003 11:07 am

Well I just froze my arse off taking photos of the Lunar Eclipse. Below are my three best ones.

Here in Colorado we did not get a complete totality, but very very close. The best place to see the lunar eclipse was from the East Coast where they got a full complete total lunar eclipse.

But these aren't bad I think.

Enjoy:

Nice pics BA.

I caught a nice glimpse of it while I was taking my trash out tonight. I think it was around 7:30/8pm EST. Not as cool as a solar eclipse, but on a nice clear crisp night like that I am having tonight it looks pretty good.

DesertJets,

Thanks for the comments. I drove about 2 miles away from my home to get a clearer view away from the trees.

It was worth it, but man...........it was cold.  Smile

I'm still shivering right now and my hands are frozen statues. I'm having trouble typing this message for you right now from my fingers being so stiff.

I agree a solar eclipse is much cooler. The next one happens in February of next year...................but it will be in South Africa.

Next one in the US will be in 2017 across the states of Illinois (the southern part only), Missouri, and Kansas.

Regards

Here's mine, I took it from my driveway which happens to be just a few miles away from where BA took his pictures.

Actually there is a solar eclipse this month- Nov 24th. It will however only be visible from the Southern hemisphere(good for me  Smile ) The eclipse is actually over Antarctica- totality observable from Wilkes Island at 22:49:17 UT- duration just under 2 mins.

Here are some pics I took earlier last night (with text added with Photoshop)

if you look in the upper left corner of this photo, you can see a trail of lights. This was created by a transatlantic airliner from IAD or points south.

I was working AA flight 1270 from SJU to EWR when the eclispe happened. The F/O wanted a break so the CPT called me up to the cockpit and let me sit in the F/O's seat to watch it. It was really awesome. The sky was so clear up there that you could see all the stars. When I first looked at it it was about 1/2-way covered and I watched until it was totally darkened. It was really cool staring out the window because of how clear it was. It felt like being on a spaceship instead of an A300.
