Why Is The Handicapped Stall So Popular?

Wed Nov 19, 2003 7:16 am

I'll admit it...I've got way too much spare time on my hands today.

But seriously, why is it that the handicapped stall is always the one people beeline to, regardless of their physical condition?

The wide-open spaces?

The rails?

The extra large door?

Personally, I think it's the fact that it's almost always constructed against a permanent bathroom wall, perhaps giving a sense of "security" when sitting in there (just two little aluminum walls instead of three).

For me, it's the space...I get slightly claustrophobic in the regular stalls. Plus, it helps if the HC stall is at the end, so you don't end up being surrounded by other stalls.

In most of the offices where I have worked, it is completely separated from the main toilets (probably added when there was a legal requirement to have it there - ie. building not designed with it in mind). It is therefore better if you want somewhere quiet to go for a quick shag.  Wink/being sarcastic Some female office workers have pretty boring lives so are happy to receive a bit of TLC during the working day.

Most likely the same reason that the first class cabin is so popular...it's all about the space.

It's the same thing as when you were a kid : If you had a bigger bike than other kids, you were cool... so now you have a bigger stall than others!

 Big thumbs up

Plus, you have a convenient handrail to grip if things are coming out sort of...rough.

It's the Business Elite of stalls...like mentioned, the handrails help when it's one that's gonna blow an o-ring lol.

Quickies are nice too....as long as the place is empty!

In my old high school, someone wrote 'The Throne' on the wall behind the toilet in the handicapped stall.  Smile The rails and the extra room make a huge difference when you are dropping the Cosby kids off at the pool.

jcs17....I laughed myself to tears (and almost fell off my chair too) at your description of going for a dump as "dropping the Cosby kids off at the pool."

Back from a long absense, I had to respond to this particular thread.

I like the handicapped stalls because of the openness of them, as well as the sometimes larger toilet. I'm 6'4" and when I sit on normal toilets my legs come up towards my chest. On handicapped toilets my legs are in a normal comfortable sitting position.

I have bad hips and even though I don't qualify as "handicapped" it makes it much easier for me to maneuver. If I see someone who really is handicapped, of course I let her use the appropriate stall.

I've always loved that one! Or how about the always-popular "releasing the mud cobra" ?  Big grin
