What's Wrong With My Computer?

Wed Nov 26, 2003 11:26 am

Hello all-
I have been having some problems with the speed of my computer lately. The computer slows dramatically on Internet Explorer when either typing sentences quickly (when I stop typing, the words appear after a few seconds) or scrolling up and down big pages that have a lot of text (such as Word Association in this forum). The scrolling is "delayed" a few seconds after I move the scroll wheel on the mouse. PC Details:

Pentium II (I'm not sure, but I'll guess 500MHz, I know it sucks)
128MB RAM
19 gig HD (12.5GB used)
Windows 98

I've never experienced this problem before a few weeks ago and I haven't made any drastic changes to the system. Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone? Is it a memory problem? Thanks in advance!

Try Defragging the Hard Drive?
If not u might wanna give that ago
Also you could upgrade your ram to 256MB, that might help with the lagging

Virus! Virus! Virus!

I posted a thread about this last Sunday.

These viruses try to read what you type from your keyboard, such as password. That's why there is a delay between when you type and when it appears on the screen.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good theory.
