Expense Of Moving Car From Island To Mainland?

Wed Dec 03, 2003 1:06 pm

Hi...

In 2000 at Mount Rainier Im pretty sure I saw a van with a New Zealand license plate on it...obviously you cant drive from NZ to the US so I was wondering how much it would cost to ship a car from NZ to US (flight and/or ship)...also, along the same lines, here at college in my dorm's parking lot there is a car with Hawaii plates...same deal...how much would it cost??

New Zealand plates on the back or the front?

Here in Alberta, Alberta plates are only required on the back. People that are from other places will often keep their old plates and put them on the front.

It was on the back of the van...I know its common for people to put foreign plates on the front of the car where its legal, but this was not one of those cases...

There's a couple of places in Port Newark (across the Turnpike from EWR) that are personal car shippers, they mostly move cars to and from Puerto Rico and the USVI's.

However they also ship cars to Europe, Latin America etc..

Don't quote me but I think to ship your car from the West Coast to Hawaii or from NY to Venezuela etc will cost about $500 Dollars.
Eastern Air lines flt # 701, EWR-MCO Boeing 757

Thanks...that seems kinda cheap to me...it cost my parents a similar amount to have one of their cars trucked from Philly to South Florida so $500 to have a boat take a car that far seems like a steal...

It will cost approximately $916 to ship a car from Honolulu to the mainland and $959 from a neighbor island to the mainland.

As I own a shipping company , we transport vehicles and motor bikes from Vancouver BC, to Port of Seattle and We charge (just on our side of the shipment) 575.43 usd Just for the transborder, that does not include the cost of shipping it onto the ship!
