The New Peugeot 407 Has Arrived

Wed Dec 03, 2003 5:57 pm

...and none too soon, as the 406 was beginning to get very long in the tooth.

I think it looks a lot like an Audi...

Great look! Very rare in French car.

Except for the nose, it looks a lot like a Chrysler Sebring. Hope it's not as crappy as a Sebring though.

"Great look! Very rare in French car."

that's coz PiniFarina designs many Peugeots, including the 406 coupe. otherwise the car is a piece ..of junk.

also, may I add that it is very ugly.

Not really sure if I like the long hood short rear deck look going on there. Plus that huge front overhang can't make it handle all that great either.

I'd probably need to see one in person, which likely ain't going to happen. Arguable the old 406 sedan was long in the tooth, but it was fairly bland and conservative looking. Now the 406 coupe, now that was a drop dead beautiful car. When I was in the UK 2 yrs ago I saw one or two of them and fell in love. Sort of a poor man's 456.

Interesting looking, but the front overhang is far too long, which gives it a dated appearance right away. Some interesting details, but it definitely does not look like an Audi.

You should take a look at the estate version. Now that's a looker.

And the long front overhang befits the car's character, IMO. Much like the XM's from Citroen quite a while back.

I wonder if the front fenders are plastic like the 307.

If anything it looks decidedly French. Like Italian cars, French cars have a unique style to them that cannot be put into words.

Now if they only made the 407 look more like its big brother the 607... now that one is a looker.

The front reminds me of the RX8, I find it a bit bland, but I´m sure it´s what
you need to sell cars to the masses nowadays...

I'm gonna get blasted by the Tifosi in mere seconds but...

About a second into seeing it I thought 456GT...

An overhang in the front is a lot more repectable in my opinion than an overhang in the back, read: the '04 Camry.

Back to the 407...

I'd be more interested as to where that engine block is located inside that looong hood.

Headlight cracks... can you say "a bitch on your wallet?" These things go halfway up the hood! Nice though... very cleopatra-like, but still stopping short of fruity. I'd get one. Anyone know what we're looking at for price? Engines? Captain?

I'm not sure the engine lineup for this car, pimp. I'll have to wait until I decide to buy my next CAR magazine from the UK.

I read not long ago that Peugeot is very interested in returning to North America in a few years. It sure would be nice to see at least some representation from the French in the automotive market in North America.

But the next Nissan Sentra will give us some French flavour in our market, as it looks very similar to the Renault Megane ...

Of course, the Nissan Quest already shows a lot of French influence in its design ...
