Addiction To Airliners.net

Fri Dec 05, 2003 5:03 am

Has anyone got to the point of being on airliners.net so long that the dishes, laundry, or paperwork get backed up? Or to the point that your bladder is about to burst because you don't want to miss a new post? When you go to your desk at work is the first thing to appear on your screen airliners.net? "YOU MAY HAVE AN ADDICTION PROBLEM! Its time to go out and get the airliners patch (if you don't like the patch try the gum!) As for me I haven't got to the point where I have made it my homepage YET!

Ever since I joined I have been hooked!

Company policy restricts me using it during work time  Sad (Lunch times are ok Big grin), but I am always in a hurry to get home and read up on my posts and other things I may have been following.

Last weekend it rained in the UK all through Sat-Sun so I stayed glued to A.net hehehe  Wow!

But what can you expect? It's a great place to be!

Here Here to aviation!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Regards,

Justin  Big thumbs up

Airliners.net Is my homepage, and proud. I check the latest editions to LHR everyday, the forums, and then most popular of 24-48hours, after I have checked all my e-mails, am I officially an addict? Is there a Teen AA (Airliners anonymous)

Yup, that's the very first thing that I check, pictures taken at YVR, then into the forums. But I should say that I may be addicted too, IM at work right now posting this, however, I own the company so the only person I can get in trouble with is the WIFE!  Big grin

It's fun, I come on when I'm bored or when I'm at work. It does not govern my life.

Anyone "addicted" to A.net needs taken out back and shot.

It's ok to have fun here, it's ok to be active.... but it's definatly not ok to live your life by a stinkin' website. Get a life ya blasted newbies!

My third visit to the forums today....I don't think I'm addicted, but there has been more than one time where I have stayed on for over 4 hours reading and reading and reading topics and replies.

Funny thing is....I was an everyday visitor to this site (looking at photos) for well over a year before I realized that these discussion forums even existed. It was not until the "Right now in the Forum" section appeared in the center of the home page that I finally realized how much I was missing.

I am simply amazed at how much information is presented on these forums from members all over the world...and from so many different age groups. This site is fascinating. Keep up the good work. Maybe I am addicted......

Usually go on during my computers class in school, since we don't do anything. When I'm home and not doing anything I check out the new pics and the forums.

When I first discovered this site a week ago I thought it was a neat little site and checked back here often..however quickly learned that this site is actually a domain of mostly extremely sensitive, defensive flamebaiters and those seeking to argue and disprove everyone wrong and convert them to their viewpoints..

Of course there are a few intelligent people here with interesting things to say..not nearly enough to make one addicted thou.

cheers to all!

I finally was able to admit that I had a problem. It started so harmlessly at first. You know, a quick peak to see what, if any, photos were added since my last visit. Then this was handled by the counter on the front page that automatically let me know how many were added since my last visit! I could handle it. I started experimenting with registrations and trying to match up the photos of planes I had with the photos on A.net. I kept track of aircraft owner and paint livery changes on a lot of aircraft. But I could handle it! I continued with keeping track of helicopters, military planes, general aviation, and an occasional home built.. But I THOUGHT I could handle it!.... BUT THEN...

I fell into the dark menacing world of A.Net Forums. I became obsessed with answering posts, I stayed up all night waiting for a response when I posted a question.."Why won't somebody answer me! Why? WHY?!!" I didn't understand it! "My questions were just as good as anyone else's? Oh look.. there have been 85 views on my question alone.. but NO replies! OH GOD WHY?" I COULDN'T HANDLE IT!!"

Luckily, my wife was able to talk me into getting away to going on a vacation where there were NO internet access places...ANYWHERE!

So I have been "sober" now for almost 2 months and I attend "AA" (A.netters Anonymous) every week.

"Hi. My name is Gulfstre.. uh, JASON, and I am ADDICTED to Airliners.Net !" Big grin

Were just trying to help this guy realize that there is more to life than a damn website.

REPLACE "this guy" with "These people".

Yes, but when you went on vacation did you find yourself glued up against the security perimeter fence just waiting for that perfect shot so you can post it on A.NET when you got home??? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Maiznblu_757 : I totally agree with you 100% there is more to life than just being on the net, I actually started this thread as a joke, but now am wondering if people are actually addicted to this site as others are to Porn, or Msn chat or a Sony play station.
But it must be told that a lot of the people on this website are here to argue because they can do it screen to screen rather than 1 on 1!  Nuts

Whenever I get home I get in the back room and Shoot up on A.net...
Addicted... Hell Yes.

I need to get out more...
HELL YES!

but one problem:
In this godforsaken suburban paradise known as Parker, CO, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO!

We are the richest per capita county in the nation, and all we have is a freaking movie theater. It gets old fast.
