Racism, Or Uncomfortable Truth?

Sun Dec 07, 2003 5:14 am

Since we seem to have a difference of opinion here, please make any necessary corrections to the following statements:

Racist Statement: Black people are criminals.

NON Racist Statement: A disproprtionate number of Black people are criminals.

Racist Statement: I don't want to pay for Mexicans on Welfare.

NON Racist Statement: I don't want to pay for anybody on Welfare.

Racist Statement: Latin people should not be allowed to immigrate into the county.

NON Racist Statement: Illegal aliens should not be allowed into the country.

Racist Statement: Mexicans should not be allowed to hold drivers licenses.

NON Racist Statement: Illegal aliens should not be allowed to hold drivers licenses.

Racist Statement: Mexicans are not entitled to receive taxpayer funded healthcare.

NON Racist Statement: There shouldn't be ANY taxpayer funded healthcare.

Racist Statement: I don't want to pay for Mexicans babies. They shouldn't be allowed to reproduce.

NON Racist Statement: I don't want to pay for anybodies babies. Anybody that cannot to support their children on their own should not be allowed to have them, or ask me to pay for them.

Did I miss any?

I agree with the bullet points you have, but so what? Those few arrows don't DEFINE racism.

racism: "(1)The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability

(2)and that a particular race is superior to others. "

---------------
I mean, not allowing others into this country becuase they are "inferior" is easily parralled to Nazi Germany and its rampant nationalism. Now, I'm not calling you a Nazi, but still, you believe that race accounts for differences in human character and ability. That makes you racist.

You also seem to believe that because of that, certain people shouldn't be allowed into a country, that makes you a nationalist.

Legal or illegal doesn't seem to mater to me on a contextual basis, because people are people no matter what.

Maybe you're only racist, it's hard to tell.

George

An entire industry of politically-correct-speak has developed among many minority groups whereby ANY comment by ANY member of white society about visible minorities is immiediately viewed as racism.

After all, only white people can be racist. Moreover, all whites are racist, aren't we?  Yeah sure

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Perhaps its the fact that you advocated bombing Mexico City in another thread that has given you the unwanted reputuation...

An entire industry? I must have missed that; I thought there were just a few bigots who get too much media coverage in return for saying outrageous things. Can you point out this entire industry to us? Where is it?
