The most famous one in English is said to have been told by Emperor Napoleon arriving on Elba Island :

'Able was I, ere I saw Elba'

Otherwise, my cousin name, 'Bob' is also a palyndrome.

In French, you have "Elu par cette crapule"

Darn, I'm giving a serious answer to a post by UTA. Time to take some holidays.

"The great thing about being the Class of 2002 is that you can always remember what year you graduated because 2002 is a palindrome which, of course, is a word or number that is the same read backwards or forwards. I'll bet you're surprised I know that word, but I do." -- Will Ferrel addressing Harvard Students under the guise of US President George W. Bush.

Adolf i Paris rör sirap i Floda. (Adolf in Paris stirs syrup in Floda) Floda being a tiny Swedish town. Not grammatically correct, but hey, it's a palindrome!  Big grin

Ok, I have a book with lots of them but I'll give you a couple good ones:

Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog.

Former Texas Ranger and Cleveland Indian Toby Harrah has what I think is the longest major league baseball palindromic name.

A couple words that are not quite palindromes. They mean something one way and something interesting the other way.
