Men Of A.net...Undersexed?

Wed Dec 24, 2003 4:54 am

I've noticed a lot of posts from various users in the other forums "flirting" with "female members" in threads....it's growing obnoxious, I do believe...

This leads me to think that the men (boys) of A.net might be spending a little too much time on the site...anyone agree?  Wink/being sarcastic

(all you're doing is making yourselves look like idiots....while all the rest of us who believe in getting some real stuff laugh at ya  Big grin)

FlygirlHels - I think you just opened a whole can of worms with that comment. Expect messages from people introducing themselves and hitting on you.

As for the original topic, yes, quite a bit.

JBird- Very nice thread my man, I agree the vast majority of guys on here don't have sex, and from what it seems like, the vast majority of the guys on here need to work on their social skills. So they go hand in hand

I know - and it's disgraceful! They only respect her because of her apparant body statistics and that she's apparently a FO. Hmm. Seems a bit fishy to me! I'm not bitter. Honest.  Wink/being sarcastic

This thread is hilarious...and so true! I have made a couple of jokes in other threads about the VERY enthusiastic response that VSGirl has received...including one thread that seems to have been deleted when the flirting got out of hand!

The thing that cracks me up is that VSGirl may very well be a 54-year-old man who has never set foot in a cockpit (no offense, VSGirl, just an example!).  Smile

But seriously, FlygirlHels, with that website of yours, I'm sure that won't be the only cheeky e-mail you receive!

I actually do not understand these people who flirt on the net... Well, it might be good if both persons are from same city and knows each other and meets sometimes (so the net would be just a typical place for conversations to them). But however I see no point in flirting on the net with person I will never meet. How could it be interesting if you not even see person you are talking to? And even if you would (e.g. on webcam), there is still not much point in this due to distance.
FoxBravo very well noted that people on the internet might not always be what you think they are (remember SAS23), and in my opinion it is not important if they are lying or not. In the net we see opinions and thoughts of people, not their outside looks, age, sex or race. This is exacly the fun side of the net in my opinion. It might be interesting to discuss politics or other things in forums, but to flirt?..

All joking aside, the dude's got a point. A relationship of mine just ended, and it was long distance for part of the time. Anyway, I made the mistake of thinking that things were perfect, when the only contact we had was over the phone except for a week spent in-person when we first met. Once she came out here and we started spending some face to face time together, it turned out that we didn't get along that well or have much in common. Anyway, lesson learned--local girls for NormalSpeed.

I guess the long distance hook-up is kind of fun, but I can't help but feel that I'm getting to old for that sort of thing.

Well said, Sonic.

Further to 777fan's post, though, I have to admit that it will be interesting--purely as an intellectual exercise, of course--to see who hits a respect rating of 50 first, VSGirl or FlygirlHels. VSGirl seems to have a head start, but FlygirlHels has the website (and is from Texas, which is dear to my heart). Would anyone like to place the first bet?  Smile

Men of a.net are undersexed? C'mon! Replying to women on the forums is the closest that half the guys here have gotten to getting some in the past year (besides their mom coming into the basement and asking for their laundry). The average a.netter isn't the most social person in the world, instead of going to bars and clubs, they'd rather be on a.net debating the qualities of the 737-600 vs. the A318...friends, let alone women, can come later.

FlygirlHels, this is just the start, just wait until Superfly gets a hold of this thread. Be very afraid!  Big grin

If you don't mind my asking (in a respectful, non-flirtatious manner, of course), which airline do you work for? I worked for an airline briefly in the DFW area. Much as I love NY, I miss Shiner Bock.  Sad

LOLOL,

I just noticed this too. For all the new females just recently joined airliners.net, their respected ratings goes up just becuase they're females. I guess many of these men or boys in here just don't have much things to do on your time. But yea, J-Bird, great post and thanks for bringing this topic up.

hmmmmmmm....let's seeeeeeee.........

Dallas-Ft. Worth is in Texas.........what's the largest airline in DFW? If you're based in DFW, most likely you're with AA.

American Airlines, duh. It's that simple and I'm only 20. I guess he's trying to make conversation to a female. Next time, try emailing her.

Kevin

American Airlines Rocks! I'm a frequent AA flyer.

Well.... obviously one that allows me to live in the Dallas area!
I do have to work Christmas and the following day, as well as over new years though. Ah well, that's what happens... no chance to fly back overseas to visit my mum and dad... a throw away of a boarding school education, they say.

Flygirlhels, there were quite many picture threads in the past, in which many users posted their photos... I think you could find them via a.net search function (when in search screen, choose forum "Archived Non-Aviation" instead of just "Non-Aviation" since this will get older threads).

Whoa, take it easy, folks. I probably shouldn't even dignify your comments with a response, but I guess I set myself up for it, so here goes:

Pe@rson, Shiner Bock is an excellent Texas beer that is not available in other parts of the U.S. Nothing dodgy about it.

JBirdAV8r, if you look at the pics you'll see that she's had a few too many. I was joking about her obvious drunkenness, but it's kinda hard to convey a tone of voice in print.

Gocaps16, it's not quite "that simple." Yes, AA is based at DFW. But DL has a major hub there. And then there are their respective regional affiliates. Up the road a little ways is Love Field, which is home to...yes, you guessed it!...another major airline, WN. Believe me, I worked for AA and love it too, but it's hardly the only airline with employees in north Texas!

Guys, I think this is getting a bit out of hand. I agree that a lot of people here are undersexed, but that doesn't mean that ALL conversation with a female (or 54-year-old male, as the case may be...see my above post) is necessarily suspect. Since joining airliners.net, I have had conversations with guys who have lived/worked in places I have lived/worked, but was obviously not "flirting" with them, so I don't see why this should be any different.

And FlygirlHels, about the photos, be careful what you wish for! I have a feeling AC320 has once again hit the nail on the head...
