Missing The Following U2 Albums-are They Worth It?

Thu Dec 25, 2003 7:14 am

Hey folks,

I've got everything that U2 has ever put out except for the following:

Zooropa
Pop
Rattle and Hum
Under a Blood Red Sky

Am I missing out?

I'd grab Under a Blood Red Sky. It's pretty good.

Definately get Rattle and Hum, the new songs on it like Angel of Harlem and Desire are great, and there are some good live versions of classics like Pride and I Still Haven't found what I'm looking for.

Pop is very different to the usual U2 sound, lots of electronics and techno. I hated it at first but it's grown on me.  Smile

I don't have Zooropa or Under A Blood Red Sky Either!

Blood red sky is a yes, great album, Zoooropa while originally panned, is actually quite good, it just was a different path from where they seemed to be at the time. I am not a fan of pop, Rattle and Hum I could take or leave, it has some nice moments, but doesn't feel themed like an album, it is more of a compilation.

I think if you've got both Greatest Hits CDs, plus the accompanying B-sides, you'll be pretty well covered. As others have said, Zooropa is ok, but Pop never really "blew my skirt up," so to speak. To me--and I know every U2 fan has a different opinion on this--the three "peaks" of U2's achievement to date are Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, and ATYCLB.

I find Rattle and Hum to be nothing but a Jaw-dropping Bono ego trip. Except for The Edge's version of "Van Diemen's Land."
