It would appear that everything about Pete Rose's career is already in the Fall of Fame. Examples:
1) batting helmet used when he got his record-setting 4,192 hit.
2) bat used in 1978 when he got hit #3,000
3) miscellaneous jerseys, spikes, and batting gloves
4) the Dowd Report, which details MLB's investigation of Rose's gambling
I'd eventually let him in, but a simple admission doesn't do it for me. I'd like to see some sort of remorse, some sort of contrition. And so far, I haven't seen it. An apology to his own teams would be a good start.
Jim Rome hit the nail on the head today. While he didn't bet on his team EVERY day, the days that he didn't bet on them spoke volumes.
And yes, Shoeless Joe belongs.
