Weapons Hunters Quietly Pulled Out Of Iraq

Fri Jan 09, 2004 8:43 am

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/01/08/1073437414461.html

WMD were THE reason for the war, they were a threath to the US. Therefor US was allowed to "defend" itself.

Saddam failed to destroy them, the UN was incapable of finding and banning them....

Without all you political weirdos coming out of the closet, I would assume this means there ain't any WMDs in Iraq?

We either killed hundred of young men and women for nothing....
OR the government lied to us about why we went to war.

I don't like either one of those scenerios.

Keesje: WMD were THE reason for the war, they were a threath to the US. Therefor US was allowed to "defend" itself.

Specifically, there was absolutely no time to lose and allowing the inspections to go on...  Insane

Raped is the word. I think he can expect compassion when he´s visiting foreign partners, but not credibility.

That still leaves thousands of people still in Iraq working on the issue. Of course that has been left out of the posts by our local U.S./Bush haters.

Back around July 2003, one WMD search team left Iraq and all the lefties here screamed cover up but in fact it was simply one team being rotated out and a new one coming in. For some reason I sense there is a lot more to the story than is being reported.

Indeed, there is more to it. Just read the article I had linked to in the other thread. But you seem to always fire a salvo, then duck away when the tough arguments are coming your way. Not looking good.

Interesting this should come up, I just finished watching a news conference on C-SPAN, conducted by a Washington think tank (can't recall its name). They studied the WMD issues in great detail and their conclusion is that there are no weapons around that would pose an imminent threat.

The people being recalled from Iraq are the "hunters" of the WMD, and they are being replaced by the "analysts" who wil try to piece together what really exists from the documents collected thus far.

No WMD's ahd nothing to do with it.

Apparently the latest take is that the war was about "liberating" the Iraqi people by replacing Saddam with a "Governing Council" made up of Americans of Iraqi origin and led by Viceroy Bremer. Dont forget the military contracts and the contracts for reconsrruction. Once the US appointed Governing Council "ivites and requests" the American troops to stay on after July-2004, The bill for the troops will be paid for by the IRaqi people!

Nice racket we have going on here!

I am glad to see that vocabulary expander is working for you Roy.....Viceroy?

Due the auditions for the New Star Wars films where years ago.

But getting back on the subject and the big picture.

Why is everybody dogging the US for doing something that the UN was unable to do for 12 years....namely showing that Iraq did not prosess large amounts of programs.

What is also missing in this discussion is that fact that Illegal missiles where located, along with the rudementary beginings of a Nuclear program. That is not deniable.

Neither program now threatens the world.

JeffM- I know we but heads a lot, and I'm not trying to be an ass, but I feel I need to respond directly to what you said.

"Let 'em whine.... It has already taken place, no amount of whinning and finger pointing can change it..."

The implication I read from that, is two fold. 1) Political truth doesn't matter and 2) there is no responsibility for actions.

-------
Personally, you send my friends to die for our country, you better have a damn good reason. Good reason? Fine, war is hell. NO reason? Well.....

Ok, so a lot of kids are dead already, granted, we can't change that, but we can 1) ask the president to get the hell out or 2) make sure a liar isn't voted in again as president.

-------
The idea that the event shouldn't be debated or questioned, because it is already over with, smacks of political rhetoric. This isn't left v. right, this is american kids dying for a reason that doesn't exist or was a lie from the get go. I mean, can you really tell the soldiers mom that, oh well, he's dead already, lets not worry about it why he died?

I think even you have a heart beyond that. You can still be a good republican by being open to a debate removed from a political horserace, and ask for real answers to important questions.

Mr. B757300 - Thousands of people??? On what CNN and your beloved FOX news are reporting. There are a special forces team of 1,500 with the Main unit (of approximately 400) left... thousands ??? Only 1,100 or so remain looking, and they aren't the main task force... The 400 (based on what I saw on FOX and CNN) were the tactical team who looked for Nukes, chems, and atomics and such... the other 1,000 or so were looking for general weapons (mustard gas, missiles, etc...)

Now, you HAVE to ask yourself this... no matter how you might like or love Bush, this has to send a signal to you that the main team for the main purpose of the war, are going back home empty handed... Therefore, the war is a complete loss and disgrace...

Vitaly,

I am thinking of planting 10 paint buckets somewere around the perimeter of DIA. Do you think you could find even one of them in a years time? Even with your brother helping you? It is not even a few hundred square miles, even less if you exclude everything inside the fence. I would be willing to bet you could not even find a roll of quarters on rental car row in a week. Does that mean none of them do not exist?

It has nothing to do with loving or hating Bush. The intelligence people that feed the JCS and President come from all parties, all walks of life. They do a job. Nothing more. Saying our troops are coming home empty handed is the disgrace. They have taken part in setting free millions of Iraqis from a violent, murderous, and oppressive dictator. Freedom is what you can call it, as you are now a part of it. And don't forget, when you turn 18, you will be required to register to be a part of that war machine should we need you.

And you can't prove that he did either.

In fact the evidence points to him not lying. Just passing on the best, albeit incorrect, intel available to him at the time.
