Sun Jan 11, 2004 6:34 pm

i noticed in a picture that one or more of the pillars on the San Francisco side of the bridge, has black see-through sheets covering up the upper part of the pillar. here is a pic of what i mean:

heard a story that says they paint the bridge all-year around. They start at one end and when they get to the other end they go back and start over, this is because of heavy winds and corrosion

these sheets, though, don't have much to do with that I guess

It is customary when work is being done above the traffic lanes that they wrap the area in a catch-net. Could not view your picture but drove across it not too long ago.

Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.

A ton of work is being done on the Bay Bridge atm. There are 5 or 6 cranes near the start of the Oakland side of the span. Seismic work it mostly is.

I can see the picture either, but there are catch next, sound dampening nets, sometimes you are working inside where you don't want the salt air to get in, could be a lot of things.
