Super Bowl XXXVIII: New England Vs Carolina

Mon Jan 19, 2004 11:53 am

Well, the Eagles/Panthers game just ended, and the Eagles aren't going to the Super Bowl yet again. I think this will be a good matchup down in Houston, and while I'd like to see Carolina win, I predict the Pats will pull it off with a 28-24 win.

Woohoo, go Carolina! I'm sick of New England almost as much as I am sick of Green Bay! Finally, a team came from down low, and now they're at the top! All I can say is GO PANTHERS!

Seriously, who could have predicted, at the beginning of the season, that the Super Bowl would be Pats x Panthers?

I definitely second what Greg has to say. The words would not be appropriate to post. I really don't think I've ever been this frustrated and depressed before. I really would have helped in Pinkston and Thrash learned how to run routes and catch the ball, but there are many things that contributed to the loss.

Lot's of Cajun dancing down at the faix-do-do down the road in Jake Delhomme's home town of Breaux Bridge, LA right about now.

Props to Jake and the Panthers for adding another NFC title game loss to the Eagles resume. If I was that idiot Philly scribe that threw out the article bashing Charlotte last week, I'd be looking either for the nearest cave, or the closest riot.

I'll join what is likely the vast majority of the country in rooting for the Panthers come Super Bowl XXXVIII.

The Panthers will join Buffalo and Miami on a list I like to call:

Belichick's Bitches.

It's a list reserved for teams shut out by the mighty Patriots.

Tom Brady and the Boston TD Party will be dancing in the end zones at Houston come February. A second Lombardi Trophy for Foxborough!

After three straight championship game losses, I think it is safe to say that Philly just chokes when it counts. The wide receivers were just pathetic and absolutely horrible. Every single one of them, except for Mitchell and the young guys that didn't get to play, should be released. It continues to be their achilles heel: they have no strong steady wideout that McNabb can count on when the game is on the line.

What does it say about a "great" quarterback that has three consecutive conference title losses (two at home)? Granted, the Eagles WRs couldn't catch the ball Sunday to save their lives...

I was rooting for a Colts-Eagles matchup, but I'll still be watching Feb. 1.

Let's say $18,000 for the week? Oh yeah..and you can park in the garage (but not use the car).

Dammit, I don't have a pool/jacuzzi at my place!

Ok, $9000/week, and if you're a male, I'll take you to Rick's (or Men's Club) and pay for a dance (if you're a female, I'll take you to LeBare's, give you $50, and drop you off at the front)  Big grin

There are plenty of 'suckers' that will pay it, though. Also none, that I know are individuals.
Some of the nicer homes in town have been sublet for $30K for the week. Corporate sponsors use them for promotions.
Two partners here were approached....both declined.

I also know of a single builder who has delayed closing on about a dozen properties so he could benefit from leasing them out for outrageous prices for that week.

You got it, COIAH99, and let's bring Greg along!  Big thumbs up

(I'll have to think of an "excuse" for my wife  Big grin )

Hopefully, that idiot builder will charge enough so he can have those homes fixed/cleaned for the homeowners, they're probably going to get trashed...

Actually, no individuals can likely afford it (and if you can..you already are already someone's guest or have the money to shell out for a suite at a hotel).

Homes are being used either for corporate receptions--like hospitality suites...
Or for press and media....

Less than 1,000 tickets will be available for Houstonians!

I'll be rooting for the Panthers becuase they're the closest team to where I live right now. Anyway, Greg...don't feel bad about the Eagles. In baseball, they're like the Atlanta Braves....good in the regular seasons and sucks in the playoffs, too much pressure for them and that's why they can't win or maybe that's how it is in Philly. Oh well, maybe next season.

And Good luck to the Patriots next weekend and I'm sure it's going to be a bloody and deadly match in Houston.

Mostly are my LA buddies who are coming down for the parties...I'll miss most of them until Friday night.

I have Super Bowl tickets, a hotel room, airfare from DFW, and passes to the official NFL pregame parties (which are awesome!). Of course, we didn't purchase any of these things, they were all provided for free by Motorola--the company my father works for does extensive business with Motorola thus the free trip to the Super Bowl (they also give my father's company free trips to the Pro Bowl in Honolulu, unfortunately my father is taking my mother...bastard!  Big grin ).

As for the location of the seats. I don't know yet. We get the tickets upon arrival in our hotel. When I went to Superbowl XXXVI in New Orleans (again on Motorola's tab) we were in section 313, which is in the second deck. Not bad, it was behind the goalposts, and I got a perfect view of Vinatieri's game winning kick!  Smile Then again, I could get standing room only seats, and I'd be happy...hell, they're free!  Big thumbs up

Greg, Amsterdam for business? Yeah, right.  Big grin

By the way, my check-in time Friday is at 6PM and my flight arrives at 11AM from DFW. So I am thinking I might be doing a bit of photography from the parking decks at IAH before heading to the hotel--if anyone is going to be up that way and wants to meet the legendary JCS17, drop me an e-mail.
