Muslim Passengers

Sat Jan 24, 2004 9:12 am

Now, I don't want to offend any muslim passengers, but I was just wondering, do they pray on board during flight?

Of course do (maybe not all) muslim passengers pray inflight, some airlines (for example Saudi Arabian Airlines or Iran Air) have a dedicated prayer areas in their planes.

On some Middle Eastern airlines they have a special 'prayer area' in the plane. I've flown on Kuwait airways 777 and they have a small area for prayers located on the left side of the plane next to door 3L. Don't know what other arab carriers have in terms of this

I haven't seen Mulsim passengers praying on any flight that I've been on, or even in the terminal (U.S.). I've seen plenty Jewish men (forgive my lack of knowledge) [they wear the black hats and often have a beard] praying at the airport (one time up to 10 guys were leaning towards the wall) and planes.

On Malaysian Airlines, they have an indicator on the big screen which points to the direction of Mecca (it fits in with the Airshow display)

The number of people praying on board is linked directly to how damn bumpy the flight is. Of course when the pilot tells the cabin there is an emergency, many people find faith for the first time.

It is practically impossible to perform an obligatory prayer on board an aircraft in economy class.

none

We can pray sitting down in a chair, if needed.

Not at all. Is it not a legitimate question, Jcs? I merely asked the question, and made no judgement either way. Obviously, you did. Point to Alpha 1.
