Hopefully the Bruins will win the Cup this year. Philly is playing really good hockey right now. So I'll go with Philly.

You Eastern confernce boys are smoking the drapes. The Leafs and NJ are the only legitimate threats. In the Western conference, the Wings and Colorado. I vote for a Finls between two of the "Original 6." Wings over Leafs in a clasic 7 game series.

My heart says Thrashers, but my head says Colorado or Detroit. The Flyers and Leafs look good right now, but they've had too many playoff disappointments the last few seasons. You can't rule out the Senators, the Lightning (but with the Thrashers being 4 points back, the SE Division could go to either team, but Carolina and Florida could sneak in as well as both teams are within 10 points of TB), the Canucks, or the Sharks either.

As an avs fan, I think you cannot forget about the Canucks. They are a dangerous team.

My prediction:

Western Conference Finals:

Vancouver Canucks vs. Detroit Red Wings

Eastern Conference Finals:

New Jersey Devils vs. Ottawa Senators

After this, it can be anyone's guess.

I was at the Bruins/Wings game on Jan. 10 at the Fleet Center - Wings dominated, and the only reason Boston tied and won in OT is because Pavel Datsyuk got ejected with a 5 minute major for checking some dude when the Wings were winning. Since when does he do that?? So random.

Maple Leafs.

If they can get by the Flyers (it's been a while). I imagine every Leaf has thought about this already in light of last year and what has happened this season already. Spooky.

The Wings?? Give me a break, they have had serious choke-itis in the playoffs the last couple of years. Unless they get some serious goaltending going, they won't last long against a clamped down defensive style team like they faced in the Ducks last year. Defensive teams like the Ducks and Devils play opportunistic hockey, they clamp down on defense and then make they're scoring chances off of mistakes that the other team makes.

Who do I think will win it this year? I think the Devils have the best chance to go all the way, once again. Brodeur is having a career year and the whole team is clicking on defense. It may not be the most liked style of play, but it wins games, lots of them.

Obviously as a Canuck Fan I would love to see The Nucks in the finals, but the reality of it is, Clouts and Hedberg are not Play-off goalies, And the team just seems to lose momentum the further in they go. I we had some seamless "D" and play-off goalie then and only then will you see Vancouver in the finals!

My Picks for Finals: New Jersey Devils Vs. San Jose Sharks

 Confused

A Stanley Cup in 2002 is choke-itis???

I think the Wings will win this year......one last time.

Yes, another Cup will clearly cement the Wings above the frickin' Devils and bloody Colorado Nordiques as the only 4-time winner in many years.

I just don't think that the Wings have a solid enough goaltender to compete with a team like the Devils. Hasek is not in his prime anymore, Cujo is good but just doesn't fit well on a team where he's not the big star like was in Toronto, and Legace really hasn't been tested for long enough streches to have any good idea.

On the other hand, Detroit is a major offensive powerhouse, so they're only chance this year of winning the Cup would be stellar offensive performance. Against a clamp down, trap type defense, it is tough. But who knows, I've been proven wrong before.

Who will win the cup?

Why the best team in the NHL of course(and not just opinion any more, with them winning(66 points) last night and Detroit loosing(WHOOO)), The AVALANCHE!!

How bout the Jagr trade though?
Jagr wont help the Rangers at all, Want proof? The Rangers got blown out last night by the Senators 9-1, and Jagr only had 1 or 2 shots if any.

GO AVS!!!

Let's see,

1995 - Devils
1996 - Avalanche
1997 - Red Wings
1998 - Red Wings
1999 - Stars (accident)
2000 - Devils
2001 - Avalanche
2002 - Red Wings
2003 - Devils
2004 - Avalanche? I hope so.  Big grin

We have what it takes to win the cup. The only question mark is goaltending, but Aebischer has shown good goaltending and will solidify and gain confidence as the season moves along. Also, we have a good chance of winning the President's Trophy this year. Offense is clicking, special teams are playing awesome, defense is playing tough and doesn't mind scoring goals, and this team is hungry for Stanley Cup. We have Paul Kariya, who was oh so close to winning one last year. We have seasoned veterans like Nikolishin and Konovalchuk who have come close, but never won as well. This team has what it takes, and we'll go far in playoffs.

1. The regular season obviously tells you who is going to win the Cup (yeah, right).

2. Wait until Derian Hatcher and Darren McCarty get back (Steve Thomas just returned also).

3. I'm not going to sink low enough to cheer against a team (the Avs).

That's the good thing about the NHL, you don't know who's gonna win. You miss that in Europe in certain sports and leagues (pretty many actually...)

You're right, they have great young prospects. Datsyuk has already replaced Fedorov, and they have good young defensemen.

A leafs/Nucks final would be awesome.....But do you think that we have the goal tending needed to go all the way through the play-offs, I mean Cloutier is an awesome goal tender, and I haven;t seen much of Hedburg, But It;s almost like Clouts loses his nerves in the play-offs.......On the other hand, If we have solid defense in front (which as they have shown with the penalty killings) and continue to have a strong defense we may have an opportunity to "Hold a 3-1 lead" on an opponent!

1. The regular season obviously tells you who is going to win the Cup (yeah, right).

I know the #1 team doesn't always win the cup. I wasn't implying they do. I was just gloating about the fact that the Avs are the #1 team.

3. I'm not going to sink low enough to cheer against a team (the Avs).

I very much dislike the Wings(I would rather have the Canucks win then the Wings and I'm not a fan of them either) and will cheer against them as long as they are a team. If that makes me low in your (or anybody else's) eyes then so be it. I really don't care what you think. But IMO you are the low one for your statement.

Don't worry about Toronto. They haven't won anything in nearly 40 years and it's not this year that it's about to change.

I predict a final between Minnesota and Ottawa; Sens will win.

That's the point: you can make what is apparently the silliest prediction, and it's not really sillier than to make what seems to be a "reasonable" prediction.

As long as chimpanzees will keep beating the best Wall Street analysts at predicting the stock market, I'll keep predicting a final between the Wild and the Sens...
