Where Do You Live In The UK?

Mon Feb 02, 2004 4:41 am

Where do you live in the UK? I currently live in Bangor, North Wales. It is in beautiful location, with Snowdon and the sea close by, but it doesn't have much to do, bar drinking and eating. It's also like one big council estate, with too many townies. Do you like where you live?

Interesting topic James  Big grin

I live in Southampton, Southern England. It's very good. Consists of around 250,000 inhabitants so it is quite densely populated. It has a thriving night life, loads and loads of clubs/pubs across the whole city. I don't mind living where I am as it has plenty to offer and not so bad public transport systems  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I live near Caerphilly, South Wales.. a few miles north of Cardiff...

Lovely area (well most of it).. near Cardiff, plenty to do, good amenities, not too far from Brecon Beacons and of course home to the GEAS Aircraft Engine centre.

Regards..

Bristol here... Dunno what I can say about it, apart from alot of the 60's architecture it is quite a nice city in the older areas, but thats it.. About 500,000 people live here, so its quite a big city.

Pe@rson - Ha! I'm going to visit my Uncle in Llanrug next weekend, thats pretty close to Bangor! He says that some of his older friends (i.e. old loonies) have PPL licenses and fly out from Bognor regularly.. If they offer a flight, i'll give it a miss though  Big grin.

Chiswick in West London. It's pretty nice with loads of pubs. I also have a house in Bangkok Thailand and we spend a month a year there. I'm thinking of selling the flat in Chiswick and buying all of Manchester with the money  Big grin

I'm an exiled Aussie in London.

Location: OCK 041 / 14 dme and BIG 316 Radials.

I'll have to think of a prize for anyone who tells me the name of the area or 1st part of the postcode  Wink/being sarcastic

Hint: It's about 1 nm from the London low level VFR heli-route.

Ben - Well, the OCK VOR is roughly half-way between EGLL and EGKK. I will have a guess as to your location - somewhere in or close to Surrey? Don't have a map handy, so just guessing. I know a very nice lass from Surrey. She went to my college in Devon. I befriended her and discreetly asked her out a couple of times, but she refused. Git.  Laugh out loud God, that's going back a few years...

Yes, OCK is there.. on Wisley disused airfield. 14 nm on a bearing of 041 and you're still in Surrey.... just!

In my experience, Surrey girls are generally nice. Well spoken and well kept, but can be a bit full of themselves depending on where exactly they come from. Kingston-upon-Thames has some good alternative names, I can't mention on here, that come from the abundance of open minded girls there.

Sorry to hear about your encounter... Isn't it supposed to be easier when they are away from home? need a bit of TLC etc?  Innocent

Was born in Rugby, in Warwickshire. Famous for Tom Brown's schooldays and Webb Ellis who created the game of Rugby. I now live in Salisbury Wiltshire. Famous for the Cathedral and of course Stonehenge. Nearest airports are Soton and then Bournemouth. Old Sarum is the nearest airfield and about 5 miles out of the city there's Boscombe Down home of the E.T.P.S.

Well, I was born and brought up in the lovely town of New Cumnock, Scotland - drugs capital of Ayrshire, and live there again now.

I spent a few years living in Edinburgh while I was at Uni, lived just off Dalry Road if anyone knows it. Worked in Somerfield (in Dalry Road) during the day and was a bouncer at The Subway on friday and saturday nights. Happy times.

Regards,
Gordon.

Here I am late as usual to respond to the thread...... Embarrassment

Good to see quite a few Essex lads here......

I've been living in a lovely little village called Billericay in Essex for the past two years or so.

Prior to that it been South London (Collierswood, Wimbledon) and Surrey (Thornton Heath & Morden).

I must say ,I do miss London despite the pollution, traffic jams, overcrowded tubes & Ken Livingstone!!

The closest international airport would be STN.
Local one would be SouthEnd.

I currently live in Slough, Berkshire - about 7 miles from LHR.

It's a bit of a dump but it is getting better (slowly). Unfortunately due to the stoopidly expensive house prices in S.E. England there are not that many affordable places to live on the wages the airlines pay !!!.

I'm originally from a place called Horsforth which is just outside Leeds, about 1.5 miles from LBA.
