The Weather Is Mad

Tue Feb 03, 2004 5:32 am

First its warm ,then we are shivering with an icy blast from the arctic (-10 or so) then its floods and.....
It starts all over again. Seasons? What seasons? Only two weeks ago whilst I was driving on route from Nottingham to Ilkeston ( here in the UK) , squirrels which are supposed to be hibernating were emerging out into the open in MID-JANUARY!, only to be caught out by the arctic blast a week or so later.
All over the world it seems our friend ' El-Nino' has been creating havoc.
No doubt everyone has a story to tell about unusual weather phenomenar.
Global warming is a severe issue that will not go away.
Anyone with some fascinating , but TRUE details to tell - I am keen to hear about! Nuts
Being ill sucks. Never take life for granted!!

Oh, quit it - at least it has one good effect: We get a few days of warning  Laugh out loud

Whatever hits the UK hits us 2 or three days later.

actually, some report that the effects of global warming may actually significantly cool much of the northern hemisphere by altering warm ocean currents from the equatorial parts of the globe.

And if any of this sounds far-fetched, just remember that we have found mammoth flash-frozen in glaciers, with food still in their mouths. Point; the weather is very weird. And we are nowhere near figuring out if man has any part in this process or if it is simply a natural cycle. We know we have had ice-ages and much higher temperatures at various times throughout earth's past.

The weather here in Vienna is also pretty screwed. When I went to bed on saturday night at 3 am, it was minus 4, then at noon on sunday it was 13 degrees outside my house.  Nuts

Yes,

The Gulfstream (North Atlantic drift) is on the verge of 'switching off', and so in 20 or so years time the UK will have more of a continental climate similar to that of Canada and Russia.

Cool huh?

What takes the piss is not the weather itself, it's the unpredictable nature of it. Last week we were all wrapped up in layers of sweaters, fleece, winter jackets, gloves, scarves, you name it, the full monty. Today i was walking around in a t-shirt and denim jacket.

In Arsene we trust!!
