Disneyland Question

Sun Feb 15, 2004 7:56 pm

My wife and I are planning a trip to disneyland this april. (no kids). I've been there many times and I still love it. In fact, I have the whole day pretty much planned out from the start.
I have never been to California adventures, though, the adjacent theme park.

Is it any good?
Would you need to spend a whole day there?
Is it just a poor cousin to Disneyland?
We would like to spend as little time in Anaheim as possible, so if California adventures is worth seeing, we'll leave an extra day for it.

what do people think.
cheers,

Skip California Adventure and go to Universal Studios....or Knott's Berry Farm..
Better yet, skip them all and drive up or down the coast on Highway 1.

Don't go to knott's berry farm, it's not worth it, Go to Cali Adventure and Disney land, but you can leave 1 day for both of them (if the lines are smaller).

Forget about Disney & Knotts...they're not worth the admission price nor the hassle of parking there either. I suggest Sea World in San Diego. I've always leave there feeling I got my money worth. Just my two cents worth. Regards.

It was no hassle for me at all. Actually parking was easy and fast.

Anyway... The nice thing about California Adventure is that it has this cool section about aviation and space. With a nice Stinson that you can take pictures with Minnie at; the main road painted with runway marks, hangars, etc. The best attraction of it is Soaring California, some sort of a full-motion glider simulator with amazing IMAX graphics. When doing low passes over some orange fields you can actually smell them while having the brisk-fresh breeze all over you !!

There is also a Star Trek simulator which is fun. Rollercoasters and other attractions are a little more adventurous than Disneyland's but far less wild than let's say Six Flags Magic Mountain's.

Six Flags, is just okay, but try to go there before going to any Anaheim park otherwise your expectations will be way too high for it. The rollercoasters at SFlags are well maintained but the park itself is very little attractive, sometimes boring and untidy.

Use two days of your stay in the L.A area for DL, Cali Adventure and Anaheim. I wouldn't recommend Knotts Berry nor Universal Studios (although the adjacent City Walk is a must). Then, as someone said before, escape the city and drive north or south along the coast!

Have a blast!

Huh? First I've heard of this. Please describe.

There is a Star Wars attraction called Star Tours in Disneyland itself, been there for years. A motion simulator ride. A similar, but Star Trek themed ride, is at the Las Vegas Hilton.

From what I've heard of Universal CityWalk, Downtown Disney in Anaheim is similar, but cleaner. Disney parks tend to be very clean.

Thanks, guys for all your replies. We're definedtly going to Disneyland, but my question was specifically directed at those of you who have been to California adventures...is it worthwhile? We're not going to Knotts (the best thing about the park is the fried chicken, which you don't even have to enter the park to taste) but we are going to universal studios in LA when we get there after Disneyland.
The dilemma was trying to work out of California adventures was worth the extra day's delay in addition to Disneyland.

cheers,

Double mistake  Nuts. The attraction is in Disneyland and it is not about Star Trek, it is a Star Wars simulator. I bet some Star Wars die-hard fans will gladly hit me now. Please excuse me, it's late. haha

Quantasclub, about your dilemma: Enjoy California Adventure. That single aviation section is worth it !

California Adventures is cool, the roller coaster and the river rapids ride are the best. There are some great places to eat there as well (we went to the ABC soap opera place in the Hollywood Backlots area, they have actors that do scenes right in the middle of the people eating and they involve the people, its hilarious). Also the soaring flight IMAX theatre thing is is fun and very realistic.
