Best 'Looking' Cars Of All Time (Your Favorites)

Wed Feb 18, 2004 7:49 pm

Not taking in to account reliability, performance, mileage and practicality, but purely aesthetics, what are your favorites?
I repeat; this thread is about ASTHETICS*!

* If you don’t know the meaning, look it up!

--------------------------------------------------

1974-1978 AMC Matador
Get one of these in the stylish Oleg Cassini designer editions and you are one's stylin' pimp.  Smokin cool

So sharp, it made the cover of Time magazine.  Smokin cool

1982-1986 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible 'Town & Country' Edition with Woodgrain sidepanels and Mark Cross leather seating.

Sccutler owns one of these beauties.  Smokin cool

1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

1964-1968 Buick Wildcat Convertible

1971-1973 Buick Riviera

My personal favorite. I own one Big grin

Two great cars in one shot.  Smokin cool

1977-1979 Lincoln Mark V
You could get these in several designer editions such as Bill Blass, Emilio Pucci, Givenchi, Cartier, Diamond Jubile and Collector's Series.

1961-1965 Lincoln Continental convertible

1966-1967 Lincoln Continental Convertible

Probably the most stylish family car of all time; The 1975-1978 Mercury Colony Park Stationwagon with 'Yatch Deck' Side panels.  Smokin cool

Cheverolet not only made a car that performed well but LOOKED good too!  Smokin cool
Hard to find one of these that hasn't been ghettoed out.  Sad

The best thing out of the United Kingdom, the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow

My favorite German car is the Mercedes 560SL Convertible.

For me it has to be the Holden Monaro, within 8 weeks will be on sale in the UK as the Vauxhall Monaro, better still the only thing different to the Holden version is the badge!  Smile

I find some of the cars above very bullish and unelegant, but thats personal I guess.

Whats wrong with the Chrysler Intrepid?

The styling on it is very nice. Personally, I don't think that Mercedes of your's is anything to jump about either... so I guess it's a two way street.

Since I'd be accused of self glossing, I'm glad KLM777 posted pics of my car (although it's in sterling, not brilliant, silver).

I think my personal favorite is the 67 Jag XKE convertible. The year they still had the covered headlights (might have been 66). A bit long in the nose..but not a straight line on her. The best of masculine and feminine lines.

Chrylser Insipid (Intrepid) is a joke. Get real--it's a mass market chunk of metal.
As is the garbage from That 70's Show Superfly posts.

I hate to say it but Superfly, those are not what I consider good looking cars. I doubly hate to admit that the current Nissan Maxima is the best looking car I can think of right now.

Superfly, you have a Chrysler "K" car on your list? Besides being rather ugly, in my opinion, they were crap.

Gotta be the 1953-1955 MG TF. In terms of modern cars, I'll agree with Ben and stick to the MG's although I do happen to like the styling of the new MG ZS and ZT a lot! Of course this is a very biased opinion, I grew up in an MG family!

Not an exotic really, but the 1987 Buick GNX was just the coolest to me. Pretty freakin' fast too. There was just something about this all black beast that was awesome.

I was going to post a photo of the MG last night but I was too tired and needed the sleep. I will admit, for a small car the MG was a great looking car!  Smokin cool

My father had a 1968 Ford Mustang back when they were new. It was a great looking car!  Smokin cool

Despite all of it's engineering shortcomings, the convertible LeBaron was one of the greatest "looking" cars of MG), Italy">ALL TIME!
I got laid with that car so I have a senimental feeling for those K-Cars.
Just look at those concealeed headlamps, verticle chrome grille, chrome siding, woodgrain dash with electronic instument panel and the car TALKS TO YOU!  Smokin cool
It's as if Lincoln Continental meets Knight Rider.  Smokin cool

I know its late in the thread, but I thought I'd contribute.

1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass S. This one has a 455 4-speed.

It only has about 9K miles on it. Original parts? It even has the original window sticker on it.  Big thumbs up

Edit: Oops, its a Cutlass S, not a Supreme.

There's about a 100.......

But some that, I think, haven't been mentioned:

Now that I'm posting it, I realize it's strange rims for the first time, actually... Haven't decided yet if they're great or strange...

Lotus Elise GT1:

And there's a lot more, like Evos, Imprezas, Astons, Ferraris, Lambos, the Koeniggsegg, Corvettes, Vipers, whatever... And I kind of like the Peugeot 206 in something like Rally guise, with some spoilers. And the Golf R32. And the Audi RS6, that's one muscular car.

Alfa 147 GTA...

There's just too many that would have to be mentioned

Well shootfire Superfly, I've picked up women in my old Yugo and I'll not consider it a good looking car. Of course it does get me down the hill and back and I haven't put gas in it in 8 months. Still wouldn't drive it out of walking distance though.

Of course "down the hill and back" is a mere 12 miles and I only do it twice a month for a root beer.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Greg, no putting down That 70's Show. That show rocks.

EmiratesA345, seriously though, the Intrepid could lose a little weight around the headlights. That, and the wheels get dusty after a few hours of driving. I don't think the grille is super proportional either.
