Internet Explorer Help

Fri Feb 20, 2004 5:20 am

For some reason, I have a "search the web" bar under my normal website address bar on internet explorer. It is called "spidersearch.com Bar", and it can be minimized by right clicking and unchecking the option to have it shown. However, whenever I open internet explorer again, its back. And now, theres some "Naughty Sex-Starved College Girls" link on the bar...lol. I've tried deleting cookies, internet files, etc...also used "search and destroy"...and did a file search of "spidersearch.com"...file didn't exist, and the bar is still there with the link. How the hell do I get rid of the entire bar, or at least the link? Thanks for any info.

I think.....

Right click and go to "Customize" the "spidersearch.com Bar" should appear here:

As seen here, just click on the Icon for it and hit "remove". I think that should work, if not, I have made a complete retard of myself  Big thumbs up

Hope I am right lol,

First of all you can try to uncheck it by going to view-->toolbars in your IE window. I've had one of these search bars too, and it was listed in the "Add/remove programs" list in the control panel where it was easy to delete...

Kind regards,

Unchecking it only removes it until I open internet explorer again. Also, the "spidersearch.com" bar didn't show up under customize. And, now the banner ads on every website (including airliners.net) are porn on my computer, and random porn ads keep popping up out of nowhere... Is there some kind of free program that I can download to get rid of all of this? Its like taking over my computer...

I used to have that same problem with the porn and the spidersearch. I forgot what I did to get rid of it though. I am sure you have gotten rid of it by now though.

Well...I tried everything and couldn't fix the multiple problems...so I decided to reload the whole damn computer (windows, programs, etc.) Now I have a new problem...when I try to scroll down on websites, the page moves really slow as if its having to load each individual part of the page. This computer has never done this before, and seeing as I just reloaded the entire thing, it should be running faster if anything. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

I used to have problems like this with Sad Maso Windows and other of their products as well. One day I got fed up and changed to the SuSe distribution of Linux. It is cheap, the professional package with 1 DVD and 7 CD´s with about 1200 programmes, plus several books, goes for less than $100,-. Installation, using the installation programme is easy. The graphic surface KDE is easily understandable. If you want you can install it as a dual boot installation on top of a Windows system. Just get the windows working first and install the Linux afterwards. It will partition the hard disk by itself. The only problems I had was with my old low end scanner and my old web cam. The manufacturers didn´t provide any Linux Kernel extension modules (= Linux hardware drivers).
