Ugliest Car Still In Production?

Sat Feb 21, 2004 6:27 am

Well, since we're talking about what we think of Citroens, I am really wondering what your most ugliest cars are that are being build today??

For me, without a doubt, the Citroen C5 beats all:

Probably the most space for money, but boy did they make concessions... They even promote it at a car show with plastic rims!

I like it. Compared to other European cars, it's very nice.

I'm dead serious. I'm more particular to the full-sized family sedans and luxury vehicles.

Geeze...I like the H2. BUT, moving right along, with the grace of (some) folks who can make decisions, the Azteck is not in production anymore. Should it have ever been? Wayne Cherry; you're fired! Oooops, he retired with a bundle. I shoulda spilled one with him, but he's a Mormon (no ofense...don't suggest delete).

Next... What the f**ck is the Honda Element? Before I retired, I had a small say in brooming the young strokes that sketched crap like that. Can you even imagine that thing in full-size clay? Can you even imagine the poor tool-and-die guys that are looking at the prints and watching the CADs? Can you even imagine the guys that have to put that thing together on the line? Can you even imagine the friggin' dealer that has to accept it on the back lot? Can you even imagine the strokes that would even BUY the thing? Oh, well ...Jack

I never liked the Ford Focus, Toyota Matrix, Saturn ION, and the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant.

The Aztec and any GM truck are the ugliest of the latest batch, but I'll throw in the 2 perpetually ugly. They are the Mustang and Corvette. Blechhh...

The Hummer is not just ugly, it's ridiculous. As for the Element, I still like it in the same way I liked the PT Cruiser a few years back, for the novelty.

You think that Citroen is ugly?? Man, you must be spoiled.  Laugh out loud Now, this is both ugly AND still being made:

This is an older model I think, but the ones being made now are almost identical. I think they put on a "nicer" steering wheel and slapped on some plastic on the front to "soften" it up a bit.

Probably the Fiat Multipla. And I also think the new Nissan Micra is horrible, even if it does sing Happy Birthday to you on your birthday.

I have to list the Pontiac Aztec, Honda Tribute, Hummer H2, Cadillac Escalade EXT, Pontiac Vibe on my list.

The Ladas are charming cars.
I rode in a few while in Cuba. They still couldn't hold a candle to the 43+ year old American cars still running strong down there.

Superfly: Does that Fiat Multipla really exist?

Yes, it does... And one of its special features is a third seat int he front row. Seems to be quite practical for families.

I think it´s actually kind of cute in its uglyness. A FIAT representative was once told that it was looking "like a toad". His modest response: "The toad is a smart animal."  Big thumbs up

I must disagree about the C5, however; I think it´s very classy compared with most of the design junk that´s driving around today.

Ah.... a Skoda! My uncle had one of those once. Truly a...... unremarkable Communist automobile.

And LADAs are great! My other uncle owns two.... and we use them when we go hunting.

Now, Lada's aren't great looking nor will they get you chicks..... but they're a) cheap and b) instill apathy in the driver towards the aesthetics of his ride, so you can actually take a Lada anywhere. You'd go places you just wouldn't in a shiny new GMC or Ford pickup. Why? Because you just don't care if you dent, crunch or bash every single body panel on the thing.

"Put a dent in the fender? Broke the motor mount driving over a berm or after a sharp drop? Who cares - it's a Lada."

I recall driving through some brush once with my uncle on a hunting trip - mostly saplings and bushes, but some 10'+ tall trees too - and was driving over everything. You could hear the dents and punishment on the body panels and undercarraige.... and the branches scraping along the doors and windows. My uncle just said one thing - "If you break the windshield on anything, just kick it out.... I have another one at home."

Quality automobile.......

Hey don't knock Skodas! OK, maybe the old pre-Volkswagen models that look like turtles, but everything from the Felicia onwards has been a lot better. I REALLY want an Octavia vRS! But yeah, the old 1980s Skodas were awful.

Any American SUV or pick-up (how can you buy such things?)
Mercedes M series (the ugliest of the European SUV)
Fiat Multipla (it's coming the new version...)
Citroen C2 (where the C3 is a masterpiece and C5 average but very very comfortable)
Renault Vel Satis
Rover 75
Nissan Micra (the new model)
Lancia Ypsilon and Thesis
Hummer (the ugliest car ever)
Any Lada
Pontiac Aztek (that car is horrible...I've never heard of it until opened this thread)
Any KIA
Opel Signum
Volkswagen Touran
Porsche Cayenne

I agree with Klaus, it is a very practical car.............albeit for the unnatractive design (for my taste), in person the car does not look as bad as in the pictures....still I would not put my money in one.

Next years model is much better looking

This is also an ugly duckling.......Hyundai Atoz

Yeah, that is a Yugo (Zastava). I realize its an older model, but if you saw a new one you would hardly be able to tell the difference, they've changed very little. Yes, the factory was bombed but it has been largely rebuilt and continues to produce cars and other vehicles. Their trucks appear quite deceant actually...

Here you can see their latest models. The only one that looks somewhat OK is the Yugo Florida.

i'm not going to argue with people about the element anymore. they want to think it's ugly, fine. whatever... i still like it and still plan on buying one. i happen to think that the most cadillacs (except the deville and seville), dodges and hummers(i still love the HMMWV by the way,) pontiacs, buicks, chryslers, chevrolet cars and ford cars are ugly. but thats just me.

Toyota Scion, Honda Element - what are they? they look like shipping containers for I Macs whith wheels. But then again ugly Goth/JNCO wearing girls need something to ride in....

Hummer-all the finesse of a bull in a china shop-but then again what do you want from a V8 powered p@@@s extension anyway.

Mercedes Smart-just what I allways wanted. Tupperware with hotwheels.
