Good Vacation Destination?

Tue Feb 24, 2004 11:43 am

Okay I need some help here. I need a good idea for a good family vacation spot on April Vacation. I am desperate for a decent vacation! Here is a criteria:

1. Most importantly, it needs to be CHEAP. When I say cheap I mean under $600 per person including airfare from a New England airport and hotel for 5-6 days.

2. It needs to be WARM. I don't mind cold weather, but this winter here in New England has been very cold and we need some warm weather.

3. It needs to have some decent attractions (a theme park or beach resort type thing).

4. It can't be Orlando or Tampa, Florida because we have already been there.

I don't know if I can get a deal that good, but if anyone knows of a good place with good value, I would appreciate some help.

Thank you in advance.

I went to the Dominican Republic in Jan for $800CND per person, but travel from the US is way cheaper. It was an all inclusive 4-star resort. If you like just to sit on the beach in the warm sun and water, go there. There is nothing like a theme park-if you want that, goto sixflags. I enjoyed it very much.

Check out FLL or PBI, since your budget is tight, it may be tough

I would say Vegas, or HNL can be quite cheap sometimes.

Fares from MHT can be as low as $500.

Um, I like..... yea ok

Usairwys757: I don't have to go all the way to upstate NY to show the family that, all I have to do is drive for 20 minutes and enter the city of Worcester! Laugh out loud

Everyone Else: Thank you for the suggestions! BTW, does anyone know how the weather in Myrtle Beach, SC is during April?

Vegas can be done for that cheap per person. My combined cost for my trip in April for a flight ATL-LAS-ATL and a hotel room (5 days 4 nights on The Strip) was around $450. Throw in a rental car, and I'm spending a total of close to $600. Plenty of things other than gambling to do in the area; Hoover Dam is about an hour from Vegas, the Grand Canyon is a four and a half hour drive from Vegas.

Try http://www.flypanam.com. It's $99 per person per way to Myrtle Beach.

You say you don't want to go to Tampa, Fl. because you have already been there.....but....what about the Gulf Coast beach areas.....St. Peterburg Beach...Treasure Island....you would fly into Tampa, and then the beach areas are about 45 minutes away. You would need to rent a car.

Or....fly into Orlando...rent a vehicle...and drive to the middle part of the Atlantic Coast....Cocoa Beach has a good assortment of nice hotels and very nice beach areas. The Kennedy Space Center is close by.

You say you want to go in April.....if it is the second week of April, better known as Easter week, you may have problems. Hotels in Florida lower their rates as soon as Easter week ends.

I would agree that New Orleans is a good choice.
The Gulfport/Biloxi area has really grown in the last few years...Casinos...you are still on the Gulf....
Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.....

The capitol of Haiti looks like a pretty good destination for travel these days.

 Big grin

Seriously, I would check out more places in Florida, and try to find some deals maybe even to HNL.
