September 11 Movie?

Sat Feb 28, 2004 8:47 am

Title pretty much says it all.... I'm quite surprised that there has yet to be a 9/11 movie-- or have I just missed it?

Anyone know of any rights/plans for one?

...it's only a matter of time

Well, there's the "yay-thank-god-for-the-almighty-president-George-W-Jesus-on-Earth-Bush" movie called "DC 9/11: Time of Crisis" or something to that effect - I nearly threw up when I zapped past it on Hallmark once.

Then there's Michael Moore who's coming out with "Fahrenheit 911", who'll be asking something to effect of the 15 questions created by the 9/11 Commision (ie. why was Bin Ladin's relatives allowed to fly out of the US while the rest of the US was grounded etc.)

And then there's a movie called 9/11, which is about a firefighter who goes into the WTC and so on. I've only seen it on DVD, and I'm not sure if it's fact or fiction.

Hopefully not for another 10 years from now. The last thing we need now is a freakin' movie on an event that is still quite recent and that most people want to forget. To answer your question though ConcordeBoy there was a film that two French guys shot from inside the towers when they were hit by the planes that aired a while ago (not sure when though). Also a movie now wouldn't be that accurate because I don't think that anyone fully knows what really happened in the skies before the 4 planes crashed.

I think there will be, judging from prior events...Pearl Harbor being a big one. I hope it wont happen for a few years.

Star, I dont think people want to forget 9-11, but more so they want to move on, and continue, as everybody is doing so far.

StarAC17,
I think that's "9/11" - it was two frenchmen who were following a firefighter on the job when the planes struck.

Saw that... it was more of a reality-style documentary than a movie however.

Oh no, Greg, you got it all wrong.

You see, in the world of Fox, CBS, NBC, CNBC etc., reality is defined as having some internet millionaire going to bed with 50 odd women, to find out who he wants to marry.  Insane

"Reality-style" ???? It was reality...

I was speaking to the genre-style in which the film was presented, not making a statement on the existence/occurence of the events recorded  Insane  Yeah sure

If there would be a movie, the thing I would want the least would be some kind of love story where, for example, the husband is fireman while his wife works in WTC and later he tries to save here and both burns in the flames (or everything ends happily). What I would like is a movie like "Tora! Tora! Tora!" is about Pearl Harbour - overlooking all aspects of the disaster:
1.Showing some simple workers in WTC
2.Showing some simple passengers in planes
(not too overemphising on point one and two)
3.Showing main organisations', president's and military reaction to the events
4.Showing hijackers preparing for the attacks
I think the points 3 and 4 should be the most important.

hopfuly there will not be a film for a long long time,
thinks how all the victims family and friends would react to this.

id say give it 10-20 years before even thinking about making a film on 9/11, it wouldn't be fair on the family's that lost loved ones

Just what we need !

A bad TV film starring out of work actors from the Love Boat, Hotel, Falcon Crest, the Facts of Life, and the soon to be out of work actors from Friends !

Who would play Muhammad Atta, Who would WANT to play Muhammad Atta. How much would the part of Muhammad Atta pay, How many people would hate the person who accepted the part of Muhammad Atta???

Who would play George W. Bush, Who would WANT to play George W. Bush. How much would the part of George W. Bush pay, How many people would bow down to the person who accepted the part of George W. Bush???

Not for another 2001 years...cuz it took 2004 years to make a movie about Christ.  Laugh out loud
