Stanford Does It Again!

Sat Mar 06, 2004 1:04 am

They already won an improbable win against Arizona on a running three pointer earlier this year. You think their luck would run out. Well, maybe this is the year for the Cardinal.

I saw the winning shot on SportsCenter. Absoultely amazing. Maybe this is their year, with luck like this.  Smile

I love it when they replay the local broadcaster's call with these buzzer-beaters. On ESPN radio, they played the Stanford announcer and his reaction was awesome...brought goosebumps.

WSU pretty much shot themselves in the foot with that one, especially the five-second inbound violation...calling a timeout would help!

One more game for the Cardinal, at Washington...

I predict Stanford is going before the Final Four...depending the brackets I may put them out at the Sweet 16...

Stanford will still face Arizona one more time. Neither team has beaten the other 3 times in a single year. I suspect Arizona will win the PAC-10 championship this year but lose in round 2 of the NCAA. Stanford might well end up 34-1 with the title though.

I agree with USAFHummer on this one... in fact, I'll take it a step further. Neither undefeated team (Stanford/St. Joe's) will make it to the Final Four.

BTW- anyone considered an airliners.net bracket? Online tourneys can be done at YahooSports or CBS Sportsline - I'm game if anyone else is.

Well, we don't have to worry about The Cardinal being unbeaten going into the tournament. They lost 75-62 to Washington today.

Probably means that St. Joe's will be the new #1. Nice to see someone other than a Duke or Kentucky-soemone who isn't always in the hunt, at #1.

NWA, is that like setting up a bracket pool/tournament for a specific group? If so, def. count me in for that...an a.net bracket pool (just for fun of course) is an awesome idea!

Yeah... my friends and I had a free bracket pool last year with Yahoo, and I was in another one (technically free, but we each put in $10 through PayPal). I'm pretty sure you can set it up at no cost for your specific group. I'll look into it, and post a bracket thread after the Selection Sunday show on CBS.

Stanford lost? Oh well, forget my statement about Arizona beating them in the PAC-10 tournament, Stanford will not lose again until at least the 3rd round of the NCAAs.
