TWFirst Reunion

Wed Mar 24, 2004 3:15 am

Hi Folks!

As I approach 4 years of participating on A.Net (though admittedly a little less often nowdays) I thought it might be fun to host a reunion of the TWFirst crowd. For you folks who don't know what the TWFirst threads are, it was a long-running series of threads a few of years back which I can only describe as a 24/7 virtual cocktail party in honor of our friend and fellow long-time participant TWFirst.

So, come on in, have a virtual drink with us, and take a little time to relax and have fun! The first round of Champagne is on me!

Welcome all... drinks anyone?

One eensy correction though Father C... the threads really weren't in "honor" of moi. Rather, I turned into the reluctant host as the original thread was intended as a message to me (thus the thread title). After I responded back, a conversation began.... and then it exploded from there. It was about so much more than me... I just lent my username.

Thanks for the correction TW! You're absolutely right now that I remember it. Still, you may have been a reluctant host, but you still were an impeccable one!

Cheers!

Yes it seems with a TWFirst thread, strange things are afoot in the world:

Let the party begin!

I, Dan Sharp had the username SKYTEAM/Dan The Man several years ago during a time where the homosexual community announced their preference. Their was a username of CRJ that was an extreme homophobe and started dissing gays very bad. I layed low for awhile and didnt get involved, however it got to the point where it was time to say enough. I started a thread called "Enough" stating that its time to end the anti-gay remarks and get on with this site. CRJ decided to flame me and others so I jumped back and got deleted. After Johan let me come back I started a thread to TWFirst to tell him what had happened and he responded back, then NWA Man started talking about spotting at MSP and how the Vikings got their butts kicked. Then it just took off and became awesome until a couple users decided to screw it up.

I think that it is great that Ctbarnes created the reunion!

Hi Y'all!

don't think Spring break is just for students!

I just got back from a day trip to Vancouver BC with a brother Jesuit. We both wanted to get out of town for a while so we drove up, for a bit of a break. We got there about 1:30, and since we've both been there a number of times, we decided to just take it easy. We saw the Vancouver Art Gallery (a first for both of us), had an early dinner in a Greek Restaurant, did some shopping and then Tom went off to a Canucks game (his father gave him a ticket for Christmas; I tried to get one but the cheapest was C$100), so I went off and saw a Canadian movie called The Snow Walker. Afterwards, went off for dessert and coffee while I waited for the game to end. We met up at 10 PM and had an almost trouble free trip back down to Seattle. We got stopped at the boarder and was selected for a random search. It only took 10 minutes, and the customs agents were actually very nice about it and actually seemed a little embarrassed at having to do it. Got home a little before 1 in the morning. Today, I'm off to Vashon Island for a few days of rest. I'm staying with another Jesuit who is the pastor of a parish out there. Vashon is a little bit of rural bliss right in the heart of the Seattle area. I am, however, going to have to work for my supper, however, as I'm giving a Lenten day of recollection to the Parish. I really should be preparing for that instead of posting, but, oh well--I work best under pressure.

Have fun and see you all Sunday.

So I went to a fraternity reunion this weekend at Truman State Univ. in Kirksville, MO. It was so great to see some guys I haven't seen in 10-15 years. I can't believe how fat everyone got... I felt pretty good about my weight/body. However, I drank too much on Saturday night, and pissed some 20-year-old active and his girlfriend off when I tried to lift up her skirt. I was hungover yesterday and puked on the side of the road on the way back to MCI. Still recovering today (very tired).

Yet another lesson that I'm not 21 anymore...

CstarU became Lortab 7.5mg or something, but has not been seen for a long, long time.
Remember when EGGD or Arsenal@LHR wanted a thread named after them, plus EGGDs alter ego, his 13 year old son DT11K  Big grin

CstarU is Confuscius now. I never wanted to have a thread named after me, however I seem to remember many people trying and failing miserably  Big grin.

Yes, that son of mine was remarkably similar in some ways, I can't think why!! Still, I shall be celebrating my 41st Birthday soon, time sure flies  Big grin.

Shame I deleted DT11K, that username was one of my original ones.. Big grin.

I can actually remember doing the post counts for each thread, how things change! Now the forum does it for you Big grin

Even though I came into it late (2nd or 3rd volume), I remember those post counts...other regulars seemed to include Thom@s and err..cant remember, think B747-437B had an alter ego especially for that thread.

Hey guys, I'm here. Heck, I had 2 posts about me last night (Both got deleted due to rules violations)

I've got to say that I had my most enjoyable days on a-net in the TWFirst Forums. It was a place where we could get away from Democrat VS. GOP, Israel VS. Arabs, U.S. VS Europe ect... and actually kick back and have a good time.

Cheers!

I'll take a Jack and Coke.

Welcome back... good to see all of y'all. Time really has flown by, although not a whole lot has changed... the observation deck at MSP is still open, and the Vikings are still a giant disappointment (although I wish they would have lost in the playoffs this year instead of on a BS Hail Mary from an unknown quarterback to an unknown wide receiver), but that's not the point.

The TWFirst threads were the quintessential non-av posts. Israelis vs. Palestinians and Catholics vs. Protestants, down to Vikings vs. Packers and Minnesota vs. the world. Everything was fair game, as it should be.

Here's to another few years of TWFirst threads (raises glass drunkenly)!

Sup>? Thats awesome that the spotting deck is still open at MSP. I dunno why the Vikes cant get it together. I thought for sure their 1998 team was going to take it all the way.

I'm glad we got the "Forum within a forum" back!
