For me is the the perfect mix between British flavour (as much as Australians try to deny it, the Australian accent is the closest accent to the English accents of any other out there) and a relaxed style of talking that is so cool. British are too proper, the North Americans are too anal and uptight when we speak, but the Kiwis, Australians, and South Africans (as so rightly mentioned by CPDC-10-30. I have a colleague from Durban and I love her accent) speak in a style that's a bit more carefree. And, not surprisingly, the Australian accent is frequently used in advertising here in the States just because of its pulling power.
Edit: For instance. The proper title of this thread should be 'Why Do
People Love The
Australian Accent?'. But, in typical Aussie fashion, the author didn't see the need for those pesky two and three letter words and left them out. That's why we love it!
