Tallest Living Person Is 8'4" Tall, Not Kidding

Sun Apr 18, 2004 10:38 am

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=518&e=2&u=/ap/ukraine_tallest_man

I don't know if any of you can access this story, but there is a Ukranian man who's 8'4" tall, his 400+ pound weight has aggrivated a broken leg, and he has constant knee pain. So far, seems like he's lived a pretty tough life since 17. Anyways, that's the story. For an out-of-work person, suprised Hollywood hasn't gotten his number.

C'mon SST, you posted this story, but didn't include the nude shots. Thanks a lot, now I will be forced to pull it to my already soiled Gheorge Muresan rookie card.

Ok, Chernobyl isn't there, I've been to Zhytomyr and to Kiev many times, same with my family.

I guess American's aren't the only ones to NOT know geography.

Please speak in International System Units. Nobody knows hom much is 8'4'' (8 minutes 4 seconds ???).

The unit for a length is the meter, you can use the centimeter if you like.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I thought the world's tallest man was from Pakistan. I remember he is over 8 feet and he actually visited Doha once, very interesting looking up at a guy that big, but also scary. He was at a mall and had trouble fitting into a taxi so he could leave  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

C'mon, don't BS me, you know what 8'4" approximately comes out to. If not, multiply feet by .3048 to get meters and inches by 2.54 to get centimeters. How'd a fat, dumb, and happy American know that even  Big grin.

So JCS17,
considering that you are an ugly American (and proud of it according to your signature) and that I'm 1,83m tall, drink 1/4 liter of beer a day in average (less actually, I'm trying to reduce), and weight 73 kilos today (!), what are in Gallons, Inches and Imperial pounds my age and the length of ... my nose (to stay correct) ?

Can you solve that ?

(P.S.: the size of my shoes is 42 - European scale)

Sebolino: While I agree...I wish the world would standardize to the metric system you really need to shut it. Because if you had actually bothered to read the article you most undoubtedly would have stumbled across this paragraph: Leonid Stadnik, 2.53 meter (8,3 feet) tall, Ukrainian veterinarian, holds a door as his mother Halyna, left, looks on in the village of Podoliantsy, Ukraine's northwestern Zhytomyr region, 212 kilometers (131.74 miles) west of the capital Kiev, Friday, April 16, 2004. Stadnik, 33, said to be the world's tallest man, is still growing up

How about before calling Americans and Brits stupid because we're using inches and feet on an ENGLISH speaking forum, why don't you read what people are talking about first...if only to expand your knowledge  Insane

1) Where did I call anybody stupid ??????
2) Where did you put your sense of humour ?
3) Who cares if it's an English speaking forum ?
4) I don't care about the article, I was talking about the thread title.

On that one, I agree with Sebolino.

Most of the world uses metric system, so when he asked for a metric conversion, the least would have been not to flame him.
I don't really care to have a height given in ft/in, because I now have an idea what it is, having leaved in the UK (which is ,by the way, using the metric system (officially, if not actually)).

Sebolino, I'll give you the conversion 8'4'' is 2.54m.
I am 6'1", which is roughly 1.85m.

You might want to know that you are also 6"1' (might come handy sometimes as well).

LH423, as I said a few lines above, the official system in UK and in Canada is the metrical system. UK is not using it really, but I think a lot of Canadian have made the transition (cf Gimli glider of course). So the language has nothing to do with the system...

Oh, and I think in Sweden they also use the metrical system  Wink/being sarcastic

Just kidding, I'm merely having some politically incorrect fun with you guys. However, I'm sticking with my English system which works just as well as the Metric system Big grin.
