Which Soap Produces The Most Lather?

Mon Apr 19, 2004 4:26 pm

I was showering yesterday (yes, Frenchmen do that, sometimes) and I noticed that the bar of soap I was using produced some very puny lather, meaning that you have to use a lot of it to get the job done. Can anyone recommend a brand that produces a lot of the stuff ?

Ahh... lather.

While I can't point you to a specific soap type, I do highly endorse soap puff nets. These combine with a liquid soap to produce a divinely smooth and hearty lather. If you feel the need for something, um, hard in your hand, look no further than soap nets made for bars of soap! They conveniently encapsulate the bar and simply scrubbing yeilds a lather of unspeakable pleasure. Who's the genius who came up with that?!

Keep in mind you should have a single-knob shower control knob rather than the dual-knob fixtures that have a seperate hot and cold control.

UTA,

Try shower gel, I use the stuff from Lynx, and it produces more than ample lather for my requirements.

My current "other half" however recommends that you don't use soap, but instead use some shampoo to wash with as she tells me it helps to keep your skin firm - and she tells me that you french appreciate things like that, unlike me apparently!

Just mine and her 2 penneth worth.

Regards,
Gordon.

I use Dove soap. My parents use Palmolive. Dove produce much more lather from my experience.

...and seeing how often you bath, a Dove bar probably lasts you a year, too Big grin

location plays a part as well - ie if your water supply is hard or soft.
Hard water will not produce as much lather as soft water, it will also cause damage to heating systems, kettles, washing machines etc. I have a water softener that removes the hardness (calcium ions) from the main supply and it does make a big difference.

The Dove I was using on Saturday night with one of my birds seemed to produce a most satisfying lather. However I realise that the vigourous physical 'lathering' action may have helped the situation somewhat.

I also shower less (read : I don't) when I am at UTA's, as the water is too hard in Baile Atha Cliath.

Dove and Palmolive brands actually exist in France and England. I am surprised.

Another one of those weird topics from the Elbonians, at least they no what soap is.
