How Did You Find A.net?

Thu Apr 22, 2004 2:28 am

Hi there A.net freaks  Smile

Was curious to know your stories on how you first found this site?

I was working on a college project which had to be a choice of our own. I done mine on Aviation and I needed some stats for a few Aircraft. I done a search through google and I came across this site!  Big thumbs up

Instead of actually completing the task in hand I spent that entire period looking at these fantastic pictures etc  Smile

What is your story?

Regards,

Justin  Big thumbs up

Hello All,

I actually found someone referring to this place on their post in Jetphotos.com - even though i'm still not a member of Jetphotos. I thought it would be best to join the larger well known site - I'm not disappointed!

I saw Airliners.net's commercial during the 1999 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Just before the bursting of the Internet bubble.

A search for airliner pics(probably) on a search engine, can't remember which.
I have known of the site for years, it wasn't until late last year I started to get more interested, then decided to join in January.  Smile

During the theoretical phase of our training our enthusiast teachers used loads of pictures to illustrate whatever they were explaining. That's how I got to know it.

I had just moved to CMF, and looked up their website to see what aircraft was doing the CMF-ORY line. I saw it was an Embraer 120, and I said "WTF is an Embraer ?". Typed Embraer in altavista, and voila...

However, it took me well over 4 or 5 months to join

I found it in 1996. Searching at work for airliner pictures.
When the forum started back in 1997 I had a different user name. (LOT767200ER or something like that). I switched to this nickname in 1999.

In the fall of 1997. I had just flown with Premiair to CFU with one of their DC-10, and I found this cool picture on a photographers homesite, where a-net was linked from. And I thought that this site had even better pictures.

I found it sometime in 2001. I was searching for airliner photos on AltaVista I think. The first photos I saw here that I remember were the Kai Tak and SXM photos. I remember being extremely impressed!

After a while I began visiting this site on a regular basis, i.e. daily.

I should have registered myself here back then, instead of 5 months ago..

I forgot!

I just remember seeing pictures of KaiTak .. Ohh! That might be... searching for pictures of HKG or KIX, but ... forgot again! Anyways, I do remember saving pictures in my computer for wall paper, since 1999. And comming enjoying so bad the pictures since then until I discovered the forums in late 2003. (I only used to come, see the pictures - the newests- and leave) So far I knew only tat the AC database and pictures existed. Then I met the forums and took me about 3 months to make the decision to join. Although I was somewhat addicted to it before joining (used to come in everyday) I am now under treatment and living out in the streets because of this stupid good drug of A.net. Amazingly, but I just can't stand being without it.

Good job Jonhan!
