Gateway Computer Problem...

Sat May 08, 2004 8:24 am

I have come to find out that this problem has to do with Windows ME. When my parents Gateway pc goes into sleep mode, it will not wake up. The pc has to be shut down manually and then rebooted.

Does anyone have a Gateway pc and know how to disable sleep mode? What are the steps? I found directions of how to do it on Toshiba PC's, is it the same?

I need to get rid of this problem when I go visit them this summer because I am planning on hooking a scanner up and providing live ATC from the PC over the web, so the pc has to be on all the time.

Any help on how I can disable sleep mode would be appreciated.

I haven't got an Me PC handy, but I think the settings you need are in the control panel under power management. Click on the advanced power management button and disable it. It should be disabled by default, my Dell would not turn itself off until I enabled it under XP....

I don't care if the sun don't shine, I do my drinkin in the evening time when I'm in Rhode Island
